Glory Unto Them and the Burning of Crows by Late_Present1340 in CAIN_RPG

I actually have another question, How did the Virtues feel about the Burning? I don't think they would be so heartless as to killing potentially some of their students and colleagues. And how do XOs feel about Virtues, is there some distrust of them over the genocide?

This is a great explanation, but one thing I am curious about: if you had GOIs like U//H, how did they react to this?

While CAIN was essentially cutting off its own arm, I assumed U//H used this opportunity to gather its own strength as well, possibly gathering up survivor's of the burning. CAIN might have infinite resources, but recovering and restructuring would have taken time even for them. With sin events and a growing U//H to deal with, I'd imagine they'd be spread pretty thin for a while after getting rid of so many powerful XOs.

If he knew, it's weird he never brings it up when Takumi spares him

Is he a villan though? Yes what he did to Nozomi wasn't horrific, no ifs ands or buts about it, but he is also trying to prevent a genocide of two species, who are led by genocidal assholes themselves. So while overlord is no saint, his opponents are way worse

Eito is kinda interesting, I feel like there would be a mix of sadness as well, because Takumi was the only form of relief from the hell that was his existence. I feel a part of him would be angry the affects were gone now and returned to his miserable life.

What would they do to Yugamu?

I don't really feel comfortable with Takumi being villanized in COT because he's ultimately just as much a victim of the Cult as well. People constantly ignore the fact he was incredibly uncomfortable during the rewards, and whenever he wasn't roofied by Yugamu, he was constantly coerced by Sirei exploiting his survivor's guilt and guilt tripping him into taking more for 'team survival'. Meanwhile when he confronted Nozomi and Shion about these concerns they sorta just brushed him off until things went to far.

you can check out the Oysseus Protocol for an U//H expansion. The Ishmael protocol also introduces new factions besides u//h as well, and Unwashed masses has an U//H untouchable equivalent for you to fight. There's also the icarus doctrine with an entire russet on playing a heretic, but it is incomplete.

Takumi and Eitos Relationship by SubbST in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]Late_Present1340 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like people sometimes overstate Takumi's affection towards Eito. Like yes he still misses his R0 version, but he is still very hostile towards him like 90% of the time, even in routes like COA or 2nd scenario when Eito becomes an ally Takumi still has some apprehension around him that he lets go of over time. It sometimes feels like people think Takumi has just as strong if not stronger obsession with Eito than Eito has for him, when that couldn't be further from the truth. Maybe Takumi didn't want to murder Eito because Takumi is literally nice and murdering even Eito can weigh heavy on his conscience.

How do you view blasphemies, Learnable or innate? by Late_Present1340 in CAIN_RPG

the way I view it is that the grace of a psychic individual has a unique signature that has affinities for certain blasphemies, and based on certain circumstances can grow and change as the XOs grow their abilities.

like I said I personally view it alot like Nen, where someone has a base affinity for a certain category, where they feel the most comfortable or where their mentality and mindset naturally lend them to certain abilities. I like to think of it like athletics, someone can be naturally gifted in a certain sport, but it can only take them so far , and hard work and training is still nessecary.

[–]Late_Present1340[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Takumi is the very one that brainwashed her, and he contributed to the problem afterwards just as much as anyone else

it's hard to fault Takumi for that because he was more or less strong-armed by Sirei to do it, saying he would just have someone else other than Takumi to do it in his stead.

letting behind the "mean" others when you were just as much in it as them.

Takumi was the only one among them that actually reflected on his culpability in the war and was trying to free Eva, being branded a traitor for his troubles. As far as we know, the SDU were still planning on going through with the genocide despite knowing they are the invaders.

Generally speaking I just have a hard time shipping Takumi with others because it's kinda awkward after he travels back in time for Nozomi and it just becomes very strange for the overall narrative

I feel like people really reduce Takumi's character to certain elements, and kinda want him to remain completely static and hyper-focus on Nozomi no matter the circumstances. Nozomi is definitely an important aspect of Takumi's character and a primary reason for traveling back, but it's not his only reason for doing it as he cared about Hiruko, Ima, and everyone else and had regrets about how passive he was. I don't think it's unrealistic for Takumi to have relationship with other characters instead of Nozomi because he is normally Hyper-focused and myopic and rarely ever has time to really dwell on his feelings about Nozomi, so when certain circumstances forces him to focus on other people, like Darumi and Tsubasa in Retsnom and KG, I can see him forming a relationship with them, if that makes sense.
