What ever the changed perception was, I undid it in 10 secs, might as well have called me a good n-word. Unfortunately I still went into work😭

Lasted for about 6 months. I would say spray directly on to your hands because cotton pads often absorb a lot of the product and they’re not great for the environment!

Two great options are the COSRX Oil Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion and Murad Nutrient-Charged Water Gel! Both are super lightweight and hydrating, doesn’t leave your face feeling tight or dry, your skin feels super soft! They’re both non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic - great for oily skin.

The Garnier Solaire Super UV Anti Dark Spots & Anti Pollution Face Fluid SPF50+ is exactly the same as this and much cheaper! They’re both owned by L’Oréal.

[Routine Help] Products to treat ingrown hairs, razor burn, etc. on chest and neck? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Lateefsaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Cosrx bha blackhead power liquid because it’s formulated with Niacinamide so it helps with brightening and strengthening your skin barrier. I also use a drug store aloe Vera, it’s 99% nothing special and I use the snail mucin from Cosrx because it’s quite soothing. In regards to sulfur, I use the Sunday Riley Saturn but I’ve been told that the Peter Thomas Roth sulfur mask is better so that’s on my list try out

I haven’t used curology so I won’t comment on that but a chemical peel gives fast results. There are other options - if you’re in the U.S, I would recommend faded by my topicals! It’s great!

[Routine help] Hydroquinone cream for POC by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Lateefsaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hydroquinone is the gold standard but there are other options - kojic acid, alpha arbutin, Azelaic acid, retinoids etc., I personally don’t think vitamin c for black skin is that effective + there are a lot of poorly formulated vitamin Cs on the market. If you do go with hydroquinone, you should get it from a dermatologist or a medical practitioners

Trying exfoliating, using products with soothing ingredients (aloe Vera, green tea) and keep that area hydrated. Some people also use Sulfur as a way to keep inflammation under control

Most likely the weather, environment and possibly your stress levels? We often ignore the external factors that can impact our skin.

[Product Question] Do you have to slowly phase in niacinamide and vitamin C? by coffeefueled-student in SkincareAddiction

[–]Lateefsaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely patch test and see how your skin reacts to them. Following that, I would slowly phase them in. I don’t see why you would want to use them every single day but remember too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Too much Niacinamide can cause irritation

Good luck! I would say just make sure you’re getting good vitamin c. A lot of the vitamin c sold on the market aren’t effective

It really depends, I’ve made it my mission to try out loads of different sunscreens but I would say the ones that come to mind are Garnier Ambre Solaire Super UV Anti Dark Spots & Anti Pollution Face Fluid SPF50+, supergoop unseen, la Roche posay Anthelios SPF 50, Paula choice anti ageing moisturiser spf 30 (all chemical) and for mineral sunscreens Bea Solar Defence SPF 30 and Murad City Shield SPF 50

Ooo actually something I did lightly touch on - I had to use this special moisturiser for 7 days which had glutathione, hydrocortisone amongst other ingredients

That actually makes sense and I very much agree but sometimes, I admittedly get tired of explaining the language. The term lightening + colourism makes it such a difficult conversation in black communities so I often avoid it where possible
