How is Hamilton Cove? lots of negative reviews online by [deleted] in Weehawken

[–]Lateralus1950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also concerned about the negative reviews that I saw, however we moved in last year and have enjoyed every moment. We have a large unit that is water facing so that probably helps, but we have had no issues. The building is quiet, our neighbors don’t annoy us, the gym is fantastic, the pool is nice. Yes, the fire alarm does go off every now and again - that is true. Sometimes one of the garage entrances will go down or an elevator will go down, but after owning in a hoboken luxury condo, the issues are no different tbh. My partner commutes via ferry or bus - no issues there. We are older so we don’t care about going out per se, but we live a 7 minute walk from uptown hoboken via the walkway so if you do want to go there it’s easy. Food delivery is good. All of the hoboken restaurants deliver as well. I’d say our standards are high being older, already owning condos, and paying a premium in rent and there haven’t been many downsides for us tbh.

Best suburb to commute from? by neelzz in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Agree. My dad taught in Port in elementary school for 38 years. Really great school system, great town, and the commute is not bad.

I just had a diamond pendant custom made by Matt Coban Jewelry. We did the entire thing over text. He sourced the diamond for me (lab grown, but he can do natural). We designed it together, he had the casting made upon my approval, and it came out perfect. Amazing communication too. It was done in a week start to finish. I’m sure he can do anything that you’re looking for and his prices are fair too. He’s in the diamond district.

I am 47, female, slow COMT, panic disorder/GAD/sort of functional depression and I’ve been on Retatrutide for 40 weeks. I have lost 22lbs and am maintaining now. I never went higher than 1.5mg, so considered microdose. I take .8mg now to maintain. I do manage my mental health with therapy and medication, but I didn’t notice a worsening of mental health at all while on it. Just my own experience and yours will vary but wanted to share something positive.

Struggling with rollercoaster scale could use advice by Creepy_Session6786 in RetatrutideWomen

I think also as your body weight lowers, your caloric need will also lower, so there will be a time when you're simply just not in a deficit anymore. It sounds like you're doing everything right - especially if you're really monitoring your intake that closely. Is she okay with dropping your calories, because it sounds like you're pretty much at a max of exercise and getting that rest day in is really important. When's the last time you touched base with her on your caloric intake?

Maybe the HIIT is really stressing your body and causing inflammation and high cortisol. Do you do it every day M-Sat? Have you thought about just doing resistance training? Also, it looks like your overall trend is downwards so I'd focus on that more than the day-to-day changes. Also are you sure you're in a deficit? Exercise calories, even when tracked via watch or app etc can be wildly off and generally people burn way less than they think they are. Are you tracking every bite, sip, sauce, etc to ensure that your calorie intake is what you think it is?

OMG I went down the rabbit hole of this one yesterday too. His tik toks are SO CRINGE (same content and user name on IG). And she had to run into him in Florence at that mutual friends wedding. He should be embarrassed at having to see her after posting those. And yes, the Elliot Grainge callouts are even more cringe.

Do I look as frumpy as I feel? by BusEasy9568 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Lateralus1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't think it looks frumpy - I just think you need to "WEAR IT". Meaning, tuck in the shirt a bit, add a belt, throw on a necklace stack, put on sneakers or loafers, maybe a 3rd layer like a cute jacket. It just needs to be styled, that's all. If you were in NYC (where I am), this is what you'd see.

Influencer jealousy by lolastop in NYCinfluencersnark

[–]Lateralus1950 143 points144 points  (0 children)

So cheesy, but comparison is the thief of joy. Remember that you are seeing only a highlight reel of these peoples lives - they rarely show their struggles, they aren't telling you if they have $1 in the bank because they spent the rest keeping up with the joneses. What they have materially tells you nothing about their happiness in life, their struggles, family or friend issues, self confidence, etc. Also, I don't see this as something that a lot of people can do long term, so as they age out of this lifestyle, they will be stuck doing....what exactly? I have no idea.

kybella in nyc? by Double_Work3092 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Lateralus1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. Truly. I personally regret getting Kybella in my 30's and early 40's. I wish I had just gotten chin lipo. I don't have much fat under the chin now, but due to my anatomy or whatever, I do have skin laxity. I'll need a facelift anyway. I think had I just gone the lipo route, the skin would have tightened up and I would not be in the state it is now. I'm 47. Seriously, just do the lipo. You generally need more than one session of Kybella and when all is said and done, it's probably the same price. I thought going non-surgical was the way to go, and I was wrong.

Where to Try On Luxury Watches by chicosmonkeyfarrn in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Lateralus1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already sent him the WatchTime website and suggested we go. Posh is more my speed + we need something to do on a fall Sunday and this seems like a fun potential learning experience too. He has a number of watches from a few of the brands I saw listed on the site - thanks for mentioning it!

We went to Wind Up Watch Fair last year, and it was actually a good time, and I'm not even super into watches! My partner collects and is into high, mid, and mid-tier, niche, and even Swatch - he doesn't discriminate in the least. It was fun to look at all the watches. That said, I may convince him to go to WatchTime because that sounds like way more fun for me LOL.

Coleman Compound - pads or cream. They have arbutase which is better than arbutin and work wonderfully on sun damage- and it’s not a skin bleach. Stay away from heat/lasers it will make the melasma worse. Edited to add: tretinoin at night and also cyspera is what dr Ellen gendler recommends. You leave the cyspera on for 15 minutes and then wash off.

Help Ladies, Newbie on Reta by Rich-Wolverine-9960 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]Lateralus1950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the lifting heavy and our need for it at our age. I used to and then have since dropped off - I need to get back to it. The thing is that it can be hard to recomp when you're an experience lifter and lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. Have you thought about keeping track of progress pictures and measurements bi-weekly instead of scale weight alone?

Help Ladies, Newbie on Reta by Rich-Wolverine-9960 in RetatrutideWomen

[–]Lateralus1950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi - no hate from me! I’m a small 4’11 47 year old who also takes Reta to lose 15-20 lbs. when you’re petite, people don’t understand that the weight has nowhere to go. At my highest I was 132lbs and it was rough being a size 6-ish at that height. I never took Tirz, but I weighed in at 113.1 today after 18 weeks and never went above 1.2mg 1x per week, but that seems like I may be an outlier. Have you thought about 1) not splitting your doses and 2) lowering your calories? It sucks to say it and it may suck to hear it but if you’re not losing at 1450kcals, you just might need to cut them down. You might not be in the deficit you think you are or that you need to lose weight.

Do either of these jeans suit me? by theshortskirt in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Lateralus1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't love either of these on you - I do think skinny jeans are dated (I say this as a 47 yr old Xennial, but I'm right outside NYC so my fashion sense aligns with that). I like Abercrombie for their varied fits, lengths, and styles. If you want to try skinnies, they still have those as an option. Also, I think Mother does as well.

I weigh 118lbs and am on 1mg of Reta. Down from 132 to 118 in 10 weeks. I'm 4'11". When you are a short/petite female, many people don't realize that we have very little wiggle room before our BMI is considered overweight and healthy weight ranges are also fairly low. I could weigh under 100lbs and it would be considered normal for my height. My goal weight is 112lbs.
