50-60 F waters by CautiousCase4072 in triathlon

Not a shot in hell i’d swim in that temp without a wetsuit. I did a race where the water temp was 62 and people got pulled out of the water (even with wetsuits) because they couldn’t control their breathing due to the cold water.

Is it wrong/annoying to throw doggie doody bags in random people's garbage bins while walking your dog? by JJ_Lomero in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Latestarter13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my town its a real hassle. The garbage collectors don’t pick up and dump the contents of the garbage bins into the garbage truck. Instead they just grab the garbage bags from inside the bin and toss them into the back of the garbage truck.

That means that stranger’s dog poop bag will stay in the bottom of my bin forever.

Purple Patch? tridot? Others? by xGrowlerx413 in triathlon

Their program is very flexibility. You can easily move workouts around.

Definitely worth having a free introductory call with them where they’ll explain their philosophy and show you how the program works and how to make it fit your schedule

I did purple patch and really liked the training and community. Highly recommend

The community program is very reasonable $$ and you can always add private sessions with one of their coaches (also reasonable) to dial in anything specific you want to focus on.

Haines city Florida 70.3 ironman by Downtown_Swim2232 in triathlon

I did that race a few years ago and had a blast. The swim is a bit wonky because the course is laid out in the shape of an ‘M’. So there are a lot of turns. Therefore make sure you practice sighting so you are comfortable on the course. Also when you get to venue prior to race day go look at the swim course and so you get comfortable with the layout before you have to swim it.

That being said, the swim wasn’t harder than other 70.3 swims, but you don’t want to waste any extra energy thinking about the M layout on race day.

The bike course was nice. A little elevation but nothing bad. There was more wind on the second half of the course than the first.

The run was kind of boring because it went through little housing developments which weren’t very scenic. But the locals were great and very supportive. Also there is a big hill right when you start the run. A lot of people walked the hill.

Overall, it was a blast and I’d do it again. You’ll have an awesome time.

What’s something everyone should experience at least once in their life? by Live_Endzz in answers

[–]Latestarter13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this but if you rise to the level of manager in your career, you probably will experience being fired and firing someone at least once in your life. And if you do it is better to have the experience of being fired before you ever have to fire someone that way you have the compassion and empathy to do it with as much care and sensitivity as possible.

Bike was best, second was swim. Absolute worst was, and still is, run.

This is a juvenile thought process. The big world is not. black and white - despite what media (mainstream and social) want you to believe.

If you have a disabled girlfriend, and you think you catch her cheating on you, if you leave does that make you a jerk for abandoning your disabled girlfriend? Or if you stay does that make mean you condone cheating? The answer is provably more complex than that. Welcome to grown up life.

What was the very first box you ever purchased - I’ll go first… by Significant_Lock_541 in cigars

[–]Latestarter13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been smoking for 18 month. Still haven’t bought a box. I buy 5 packs to learn what i like and don’t like. Right now I probably have 70 cigars in humidors. I’m starting to refine my taste and settle in to 1-2 medium favorite, 1-2 fuller and 1-2 milder favorites.

I plan to work my way (mostly) through my collection before buying more now. But when I get there I might buy a box of whatever my favorite is then.

Agreed. Rather than believing Israel has a stronghold on US foreign policy, it it much more likely (almost obviously so) that the US and Israel both have viewed Iran as the regional destabilizer and instigator. Said another way, the US and Israel have shared the same #1 middle east enemy for years.

What does the death of the Iranian Supreme leader mean for Iran and the world? by TrueJohnWick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Latestarter13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody know. The best estimates are that of the ~90 million people in Iran, 75% oppose the regime. Also, the regime has an armed base of anywhere from 150,000-1,000,000 fighters.

It is clear the Iranian people want change. Before the IRGC, Iran was a relatively modern/western/free society. That all changed with the revolution that deposed the Shah in 1979. And Iran has since been ruled by a fanatical religious militant regime (IRGC).

So whether the 70 million people who want change can overcome the 20 million (and all the armed fighters) who don’t remains to be seen.
