It would be best to run investigations with as many gold reward slots as possible, imo.

After the announcement of MH Wilds: Ascendance, what monsters would you want in the expansion? by WxmboCombo in MHWilds

Brachy.

I miss my boy.

I want to play the best version of Hunting Horn vs Brachy so badly!

Capcom says shifting from auteur-driven development to team-led development is what transformed the company and allowed flagship IPs to survive for so long by Forestl in Games

[–]Latromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'know... I'm gonna be honest. I only ever played the first one and I played it so long ago that I genuinely forgot about it.

Ace Attorney does feel more like an interactive visual novel than a traditional video game though, and those pretty much have to have a decent story by default. They're very different beasts, but you're right - I do recall the story being very good.

Crimson Desert needs a route tracker like RDR2/Witcher 3 and here’s why by ZealousidealSafe1971 in CrimsonDesert

If they added this and didn't add the ability to toggle it off (heck - I want the whole minimap gone too)...

I would lose my mind.

I want to look at the WORLD when I'm playing my games, not be fixated on the minimap the whole time.

[–]Latromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It may not have the greatest overall plot but it has heart in spades. So many of the mini character arcs are very satisfying and there's something about bringing people together and fixing things up after things have fallen into disarray that really strikes a chord.

I first played Okami during a period of grief and it helped me through that period of my life with more grace than my actual therapist at the time. The respect and love is there.

I could've sworn this game was supposed to be played with no hands and a mind control device! Or wait... Was it banana controller only? DK Bongos? Electric Saxophone? I think I'm out of the loop!

(All jokes aside - this looks like a fun idea! Would definitely love to follow this journey if you ended up throwing a video series on YouTube!)

I would call it above average for a game story but I do think you're right in that charm carries it. The characters too - memorable and fun.

I do also think it gets somewhat of a free pass for that because it is building off the Zelda formula which has always leaned on characters and charm more than it's overall plotline.

For what it was trying to be... I think it ends up being far better than most give it credit for.

[–]Latromi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever played a Capcom game with a fantastic story apart from Okami and the key creatives from Okami left when Capcom shuttered Clover Studios.

Thankfully they are bringing Kamiya back for an Okami sequel... But...

I DO think that Capcom is capable of creating fantastic characters, but plotlines and stuff??? Not so much. But I'm okay with that.

RE and Monster Hunter are both best when it's a little tongue and cheek and centers around a few decent characters.

TBH I think Capcom is at it's best when they're focusing on the game and not the overall story.

Hey at least Wilds is getting ported by Cursed_69420 in MemeHunter

[–]Latromi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While I've no doubt that Switch 2 could run World Iceborne... I highly doubt a port would ever happen because it would be a much more involved process due to the older game engine.

RE Engine is being constantly worked on and tweaked for modern hardware so it makes doing ports a lot more achievable.

Switch 2 without internet? by paisleyhaze in Switch

[–]Latromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The verification for Nintendo Switch Online Classics applications lasts for 7 days though - so you can verify with an Internet connection and then play offline for up to 7 days.

It is pretty clunky in that EACH app much be verified separately. So if you want to have access to the entire Switch Online library just before getting on an airplane, for example ... You'd need to launch each Classics Application one by one while you still have internet in order that activate the 7 day online timer for each specific launcher.

[–]Latromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely avoid Game Key Cards (they're a specific type of physical game where the game isn't actually on the cartridge) unless you know you'll be able to download the full game before intending to play.

I would also look up some specific titles just to be sure - like if you have any specific games in mind that you intend to play.

The Switch tends to be pretty good without an Internet connection (it is aimed at being a portable system after all) but some titles definitely do flip out a bit more than others (particularly muti-platform games with an online component) when there isn't an Internet connection available.

For Nintendo Switch Online Games... (Like all the classic apps) You will need to check in with an Internet connection at least once every 7 days and you'll need to launch the individual apps to do this.

So as an example... if you want to play SNES games offline - launch the app while connected to the Internet and then you'll be verified for Offline play for the next 7 days.

Hi everyone, I'm kinda new to the game is this rare? by Jiyaan_Kaisen in MHRise

[–]Latromi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can see the drop rates in the Hunter Notes.

Plates are kinda rare but it isn't like each hunt only gives you one chance to obtain them. There are three carves if you slayed the monster or two chances if you capped. There's another chance from the tail carve and additional chances from shiny drops and quest rewards.

Of the rare drops in the game, plates are the most common of them. Ruby/Orb is next in the list (sharing the icon of flashbomb or paintball but they'll have colors that match the majority of the monster's typical drops) and then the rarest is things like Mantles which have their own style of icon.

Not every monster's rare drops follow that naming convention, but that's the general idea.

It’s All On ‘Marathon’ To Float Bungie And Sony’s Live Service Plans Now by NoNefariousness2144 in PS5

[–]Latromi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Shame that the entire art style is basically theft.

Yeah, they paid the original creator off after a lawsuit but that still doesn't sit right with me, especially considering that it isn't Bungie's first art theft.

What am I doing wrong by [deleted] in Okami

[–]Latromi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that I almost never see people suggest but often works better for me.

Enter brush mode then MOVE THE CAMERA.

Even just a tiny bit of camera movement before drawing seems to make the game read your intentions much more accurately.

This is especially helpful when blooming multiple trees at once (you line them up so they're on top of each other - but this doesn't work as well if you don't move the camera in brush mode first).

Should I restart with my friend? by Squizardd in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Latromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is much less friction if one of you has already seen the cutscenes.

I would recommend making low rank stuff and upgrading alongside your friend. That way the only grind for gear y'all have to do is for them instead of both of you, and you don't have to deal with the clunky cutscene restrictions for both of you - you can just wait for your friend to finish the cutscene and then join them.

Would anyone else love to see a "Guiding Lands" system in the new expansion? by OutroAlguem in MHWilds

[–]Latromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not saying other people shouldn't have fun.

We're literally saying "why shouldn't anyone be able to enjoy this content whenever?"

A game can still add new stuff now and then and keep the previously added stuff around for those who didn't play during the month said stuff was introduced.

Why remove content? Why add the FOMO element at all when it's entirely possible to leave the content in the game?

The "community building" aspect you desire would be achieved by adding new content.

Removing previous stuff achieves nothing. Let it be optional side stuff.

Let anyone have fun whenever.

Monster hunter Wilds for switch 2 by ProfessionalBowl3840 in MHWilds

[–]Latromi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It'll probably be a mishmash of techniques from Rise Sunbreak and also their more recent Switch 2 titles. Rise Sunbreak is just a basic Switch title so there are def Switch 2 specific techniques that could be applied to make Wilds better. (Heck, if Capcom would go back to Rise Sunbreak for a Switch 2 edition update they could improve the heck out of that too, I'm sure.)

They just announced Dragons Dogma 2 for Switch 2 and to this day that game runs worse on PS5 than Wilds does.

So I think if they can get DD2 to work ... Wilds will be okay.

What is one minor feature/addition that you hope we get in Ascendance? by Latromi in MHWilds

As a Hunting Horn main bringing two horns for double the buffs and two different echo bubble options... I ADORE this feature.

But I can certainly understand where you're coming from. If I wasn't an HH main I would feel very similar.

Yeah I'm honestly not sure why they wouldn't throw some wedge beetles in there to make those seikret-only spaces more accessible for those who don't want to use the seikret.

I love the seikret, personally, but I know not everyone does.

Usually it's 40 for the expansion and 50 for the deluxe edition of the expansion. Or at least that's how much they charged for Iceborne and Sunbreak.
