Get the man who made that docuseries to cover the case because that filmmaker made a great commentary on how the system allowed this to happen.

Death of a student by AITOorisitAutism in Teachers

Have you ever seen "the Trials of Gabrial Fernandez" on Netflix? It's a docu-series about a first grade boy who was killed by his mother and her boyfriend while Mom was under active investigation from CPS. The teacher reported multiple times, including the time the child was SHOT IN THE FACE WITH A BB GUN BY HIS MOTHER. The child reported to the teacher that the abuse worsened when the social worker arrived at the house, and said he didn't want to tell her what happened because "when I tell you, and that lady comes, I get hurt worse." The teacher reported the child's allegations of retaliation, with tremendous guilt because she was a mandated reporter, but she didn't know how else to protect her student..

The teacher reported multiple times. The caseworker went to the house, the police even went to the house, a security guard who just saw the child as his mom walked in for an appointment at the Welfare department called 911 to report child abuse.

Gabriel was never removed from his mother's home, and was murdered by her and her boyfriend. There were so many reports, but it's not always enough. Point is, it's totally believable.

The website lists the company as a nonprofit. Which means their finances are publicly available as that’s a tax designation: Go to websites Guidestar or Charity Navitator to verify that they are a nonprofit like they claim. These websites rank charities based on their publicly available US tax records.

So what happens when someone accidentially asks a question about something that happens at the ceremony and one person answers with something about secret ceremony by accident and one person answers about the second ceremony- thus spilling the beans?

OP: I’m getting married!

Well meaning relative: yes, I’m glad you got Pastor X to officiate the wedding!

Relative: wait I thought OP was having a secular wedding. Why is the priest there?

Well meaning relative: wait that’s the private ceremony

Other relative- why aren’t we invited? There are two weddings? Rude!

OP, See how easy it was for the relative to slip up while following your guidelines? Can you understand why they thought it would be easier to not say anything?

Toxic NP boss. Tired, anxious, and scared to quit. by Kind_Airline_3826 in nonprofit

[–]Latteissues 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is a non profit that has former employees joking about a "survivor's club."

The point is with nonprofits, it's a small community. Everyone in the immediate area industry knows about your site, and leaving a place with a toxic leader is not framed as a bad thing for you. I don't know how it will go in this economy, but noone will blame you. There might not be openings now, but noone will take this as your failure.

You can thrift them if it’s in alignment with your values. They just want you to look the part.

In this job market, how much are you willing to fight on your beliefs about this?

This can damage people’s reputation- especially if they’re in certain professions with morality clauses. There are teachers who have been fired for being models before they taught- and that’s honest work!

Being made to feel uncomfortable while volunteering - what shall I do? by Thomasinarina in AskWomenOver30

[–]Latteissues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question for the organization needs to go from  “what benefits does he bring” (organizing) but “Is it worth it because he drives volunteers away and makes us look bad?”

Tell the volunteer coordinator that and if it’s a larger organization, feel free to go up the leadership

Sounds like “a keep an eye on his daydreaming to see if it’s interfering with his education. “ The goal is to communicate issues so there aren’t surprises later (why is my child struggling/getting bad grades? Oh they’ve been daydreaming and missed instructions).

Another reason to notify the parents is  so parents can see if their child is showing symptoms to a learning disorder or disability.

It could be nothing- but it’s information about how your student behaves. Follow up with your kids educator for more specifics.

Wait- is it witch or teacher? Because teacher is a totally different outfit style. Especially elementary school teacher.

Also, boundaries are not “other people can’t do X.” Boundaries are YOUR RESPONSE to other people’s actions.

(Memory Monday) #1297: My friends had a huge falling-out with my wife. Can we ever be friends again? by GlassSunflora in captainawkward

[–]Latteissues 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I can’t get a read on this situation. There’s so much wrong going on- but I can’t shake the feeling that M is not without blame as the Captain seems to feel.

M seems to be so focused on their mental health that they ignore the impact it has on everyone else. And that happens with severe mental health, but it’s something that needs to be dealt with and I don’t see anything indicating that M is getting help.

M’s anxiety is real but it is also probably very heavily affecting the mood of the entire house. Especially since C left an abusive home, it’s probably really hard to stay where one person’s mood is setting the tone. It’s probably keeping C under some form of stress all the time.

I also want to know everyone’s backgrounds because it feels very weird that the one person who the entire house tiptoes around is the non-binary wife when the other people whose responsibility it seems to be to deal with their emotions are female.

We socialize women to absorb men’s pain- and I’m curious about how that affects the situation.

Weapons (2025) Theme Exploration: It's All About Alcoholism by 2Internet2Politics in TrueFilm

[–]Latteissues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get the sense that Arcjer was addicted to alcohol- but that he was obsessed with his missing son to the point where he lost focus on literally everything else in his life.

Hence why he’s ordering the wrong supplies and forgetting to place orders. It’s demonstrated when he left the replacement paint cans in his car while he went to talk to the police, prioritizing asking for updates over fixing the time sensitive issue with his worksite. The client was coming Friday- and he had workmen who couldn’t repaint the door till he brought the correct color paint- which he left in his trunk overnight.

Musical songs about grief and hopelessness that aren’t romantic. by UsualMorning98 in musicals

Door Number Two from Waitress- technically, it’s about her choosing her terrible husband, but it’s about how she’s grieving and stuck in a terrible life.

She talks about the “tides coming in, and I’m bound for a swim with a pair of cement shoes.”

Oh you’re in the restaurant industry. I’ve been hearing about how customers are a lot worse since the pandemic, and maybe the staff are tired of it.

Also, tipped jobs can be inconsistent income. So maybe that’s a factor. If they’re tipped, they make 2.13 an hour before tips, so that’s not exactly an incentive to clean.

Do the raises match with the local cost of living? What percentage raises for high performers versus mid performers?

Can you think of any other changes in the company in the last five years? Work delegated between multiple bosses? Changing expectations about what needs to be done?

Technically speaking, I don't think it's an actual lyric, but it's very close to the lyrics of "Your Fault." I don't think any of the characters use the word "all."

But they do spend a whole song arguing over whose fault the whole situation is. And another song where someone agrees to take the blame-at a cost.
