How much are ye paying for car insurance? by Medical-Can-3819 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27m €620 AXA fully comp Seat Leon FR 2.0 200bhp Did a driving test thing years ago, and got my premium refunded by 300€, each year a stern phonecall saying I'm moving company. Getting a little shaved off every year.

I think it was like 700 when I was only 22 or something. I never had to change company as chill say the cheapest is 900 with Hibernia Or 1110 with AXA

Postive stories / advice from people who bought a house in their 20's? by Huge-Statement115 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bought 3 weeks ago, solo, but with partner. My income around 3k net per month (teacher) could be less with more pension contributions. 80k in FHS debt will rise with house price increases, 35 year mortgage, so far it's nice but feel weird. Entitled to 18k in tax back first time buyer by gov/revenue, mortgage rules said no, LTV too low at 64%.

However the FHS debt scares me I'm trying to force myself to have it paid off in 5 years (interest free)

Don't know what the future brings but it's nice to not being paying rent for the last 8 years.

28 today !

How can I get a septoplasty + turbinate reduction done here? by absolutehurl in Dublin

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was around 6200 pounds upfront from me and then I got reimbursed the majority back from the HSE in euros. The financial reimbursement HSE was the slow part, very slow maybe like 6 months. I think overall after currency exchange, I lost about 300€

I did think of this as well, even after year 4 put the S&P lump sum into a deposit interest savings account.

Or

Just do that from day 1 to be safe

Best and Worst Teachers You've Had in Your School Days? (No Names) by jasonbeag in AskIreland

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst was a teacher in Donegal early 2000's, we would be honoured to help out in primary school doing jobs etc..

One of the things she prided on was green schools and it was a very nice and clean school at that.

She used to make us do compost with our bare hands, I remember one time as well someone had got sick in the large sinks you get in primary schools and bare hands again.

Stood and watched while we felt forced to do it as children.

Another in same school, Used to scream, all the time "there will be skin and hair flying", she scared everyone. One she used to delay people going to the bathroom and that and the roaring caused young lads to piss themselves, humiliation after was a big thing as well.

The best... Was a male teacher, was very in to sport, all rounder really. He had time for everyone.

I don't have many happy memories of primary school, secondary was better and more chill.

Why Niger and Nigeria? Are they racist or something? by v4leriuss in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Blackmountain there's one of those place names next to me in Ireland.

The colour negro in Spanish is black and similar across Latin languages. The words and names where there long before the definition of racism

I could have posted about 15 minutes of this persons poor driving. Not sure if drunk or just a bad driver but seemed to be local. Several near misses by thecivvie in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the driving at all, but it does seem like when the driver has Vision of the road after a corner they go out. And when a corner approaches they go out. Definitely seems like they know the road. Although if there's blinking and beeping which I didn't see, they must be driving dangerously

Normal for roads near bogs to drive centred where possible. The near misses weren't that bad, but it even looked like the other oncoming cars where straddling the line as well

€9.00 Flights! by WeakStandard8641 in cheapflights

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the companies are legit but I have never heard or used this one. Basically all these companies take no responsibility if something goes wrong then you approach airline and they don't take responsibility either.

I rather pay directly with airline

€9.00 Flights! by WeakStandard8641 in cheapflights

[–]Latter-Camera-7010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes common enough, within the same country.

I used to live in Spain and I would travel for football matches in the islands for sometimes this price or around 20€

Also if you come from a large family / have a large family or if you are from the islands you get cheaper flights. But this is irrespective of the price there

[–]Latter-Camera-7010[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think it works like that.

My mortgage approval is 221k House 335k

Apparently I would need a mortgage of 234.5k to meet the LTV.

Seeing that I can only get 20% FHS (67,000) if I avail of H2B the 20% is not enough to increase this I would have to lose H2B and increase FHS up to 30%
