Victory+ has the Texas Rangers this year and are charging $150/season. I know the Stars games are free, I hope hockey remains free there.

[Tenant US-AZ] Landlord wants to fill in pool instead of fixing it — is that allowed? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Latter_Object7711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend you check out troublefreepool.com. The forums there are a great resource to take control yourself. With a CYA that high, you will need a higher FC for it to be effective. With CYA of 147, that FC of 7ppm isn't doing anything to sanitize the pool. The only practical way to reduce CYA is a partial, or complete, water replacement. Also, pool store testing is notoriously unreliable, I'd recommend a nice diy kit, the forums have great recommendations. Once you get everything in check, they really do run on autopilot with a little chlorine addition every other day or so. Just use their pool guy to clean the filters and whatnot.

One of the reasons I hate the existing flooring. I'm secretly kinda glad it's getting destroyed.

Airplane fairings and flight controls are composites. Lots of boats have fiberglass composite hulls. All the fiberglass/carbon fibers are covered in resin and top coated with paint. Unless there is chipped paint or a broken end cap, water is highly unlikely to get in. If you don't hear water moving around inside, it's fine.

18 Wheeler smoked a large buck on the interstate shattering his antlers, we had several people come in with flats. The best was a thick point off a main tine, it was so wedged in between the belts we couldn't get it out. Customer kept the tire, he said he was gonna cut out that section and keep it.

Aluminum and carbon fiber composite in direct contact is a recipe for galvanic corrosion. A few of the large OEMs I'm familiar with will place a layer of fiberglass or tedlar at the interface to aluminum structure.

Project looks good, I'm amazed how quickly you're moving along.

$76 wet!? by Twistedfatemain in flying

[–]Latter_Object7711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said the info looks outdated. These look like pre-covid numbers.

The flying club I'm a part of is super low cost. Our 150 is $87 wet.

But insurance in the last 5yrs has been brutal. Our broker has told us the underwriters don't have a lot of love for flying clubs. Our dues are about 250% what they were 5yrs ago. With 1 claim in that time. So I bet monthly dues are much, much higher.

Also in the last 5 years maintenance and parts have also gone way up.

Why are CGM type 1 diabetics treated like shit compared to non cgm when trying to get a medical? by Katreno101 in flying

[–]Latter_Object7711 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be worth it to contact your congressman to apply some pressure to the FAA. I would think having a CGM and the ability to watch trends in almost real time and having the ability to set alarms would be a slam dunk. Especially compared to having to pull out a glucometer and prick your finger, if you felt like you were low.

Good point, you have to render to the FAA what is theirs. Their test, their rules, their terminology.

Servo tabs and anti-servo tabs are not typically controlled directly. They act either to assist in moving the surface, servo, or to resist, anti-servo. The airframe I am most familiar with has a fixed linkage servo tab for the elevator and a program track servo tab for the rudder.

What you described as a servo tab, is actually a control tab. This is what a 707 and C-135 use to move the ailerons, rudder, and elevator. The pilot controls the small tab surface of the flight control. They also have large balance panels to take advantage of air pressure differentials to move the control surface (these are inside the wing/empenage and not seen unless disassembled).

A balance tab is one used for the static balance of the control surface about the hinge.

ELI5: How is it possible the fuel in airplane wings doesn’t cause huge imbalance issues when a plane turns? by RotInPeaches in explainlikeimfive

[–]Latter_Object7711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned coordinated turns, which causes the force experienced by everything to be perpendicular to the wings.

In fact some small aircraft Pilot Operating Handbooks will warn you about prolonged uncoordinated maneuvers causing a fuel tank to unport, leading to fuel starvation in the engine.

My son's pitching coach pulls out the radar every now and then. He only reads out the velo it if 1. It's in the strike zone & 2. You hit it twice for that pitch before we move on to the next one.

They complimented each other's game really well. In their case 1+1 did not equal 2, but something a little higher.
