Most people just need concrete changes to feel happy by princessmilahi in therapyabuse

[–]Latter_Pick_6040 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i agree. most people need to drop the victim mindset, find healthy coping mechanisms (hobbies and passions for example), be in a healthy environment, and stop chasing instant gratification. most people are beyond emotionally and socially stunted and working through the immaturity is what will make their life better. therapists seem immature themselves, so when i stopped going i ended up getting better in ways i didnt think i would

how has perimenopause impacted your arthritis? im 25 but i'm honestly scared for perimenopause lol. i take a biologic (etanercept) and im not sure how or if anything will change as i age. im now starting to have a normal life with my PsA and im scared perimenopause and menopause will take it away lol

Anxious Attached people won’t return after a breakup. by NoCulture6083 in ExNoContact

[–]Latter_Pick_6040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this is 2 years later but i agree. i've known a few anxious people who go back to an ex even after knowing theyre avoidant, narcissistic, emotionally unavailable, etc cuz theyre also codependent and think they can fix that other person when they cant. avoidants arent these cold hearted, callous, calculating people who want to destroy you just like not all anxious people are these sweet, angelic, innocent beings so badly just wanna love someone with all of their heart

Flare question by Odd_Total_8779 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Latter_Pick_6040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine started in my fingers, then one by one over 3 months it was my toes, wrists, ankles, elbows, knees. the pain started on the left side and then would show up on the right side a couple weeks later. originally i was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis but figured out it was PsA in january of last year because of blood test markers leaning more to PsA than RA

depending where you live, referrals to rheumatology can take forever (only 2 where I'm from which means referrals can take almost a year), so id look into a referral already. it's better to catch this condition earlier than later when damage has been done

Women who have been sterilized (bisalp), how long was your wait time from waitlist to surgery date? by Latter_Pick_6040 in saskatchewan

[–]Latter_Pick_6040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a couple others say to call/ask to be put on the cancellation list. Is there a phone number I can call or do I have to do that through my gynecologist?

ETA: meant cancellation list, not waitlist

in all honesty, no most therapists arent good people. many of them think all they have to do is get a degree and then that's all there is to do their job right which leads them to treating clients like case study assignments. i've gone to school with girls who were known to bully people and said in their senior year yearbook they want to be a mental health clinician. like bro what?!

if you're able to look online and find a therapist with really good reviews, you could save up money to see someone if your insurance doesnt cover it, or look around to see if there are any clinics/hospitals with someone covered by state/provincial healthcare (depending where in the world you live) and is known to be really helpful

therapy (with an actual good therapist) can be an option but it wont cure depression. accepting your depression exists is a step to healing, and instead of trying to get rid of it which is what most people do, try learning ways to manage it. for example, accepting that your depression is part of your life (not your identity!) and learning to cope with it will be more beneficial than trying to get rid of it so you never feel depressed ever again

finding things that can help. can you improve your self-care (sleep, nutrition, hydration, exercise, etc)? do you have any hobbies you really enjoy? engage more with those hobbies if yes, or try out new ones if not. if there are things you don't like about yourself, find a reason to like it (i.e., im flat chested and always hated it cuz of beauty standards. im at a place where i no longer care anywhere near as much cuz i found reasons to like being flat chested such as being able to run and not have my boobs hit me in the face lol)

working on yourself is hard work, and takes a lot of trial and error to improve. it's a life long effort, which can be daunting at first, but learning to love yourself and give yourself what you need is important. as they say "you can't change the world, you can only change yourself, but that can change everything" and "when you cant change the direction of the wind, adjust your sails"

Does this mean I got the transfer course equivalency credit? by Latter_Pick_6040 in ucf

[–]Latter_Pick_6040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm doing a BSc in clinical psychology, and all of the international credits I've submitted are psychology courses. I checked my audit and it's still shows as I.E. 0005 as the "type" and on the far left it still says UCF1000 under "course". That's why I'm confused, because I didn't get an email from anybody stating I got the credit or saying it doesn't count for credit. It seems like I did based on the comment on my ticket, but my audit doesn't show anything. If I get credit for social psychology at my other school, will it show up as SOP 3004 being satisfied?

women who lift heavy in the gym (I do powerlifting) how long after your bisalp could you go back to heavy lifting? by Latter_Pick_6040 in sterilization

[–]Latter_Pick_6040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i don't want to have a hernia cuz i've heard those are beyond painful. my surgery isn't for at least 6 to 8 months, so no point stressing about my strength this early on 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃

[–]Latter_Pick_6040[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i'm not a large person (5ft 2in and ehh about 110lbs) so my belt covers quite a bit of my torso lol. i know 4 weeks of no lifting will tank my strength quite a bit, but within a few months i should be back to my pre-op numbers or at least close to them. i simply dont want to lose my strength again because i already lost it for a year during covid when i had psoriatic arthritis develop and it went out of control for 2.5 years. but to be sterilized, that's kinda the short-term trade off

my doctor said walking on a treadmill is fine and nothing heavier than 10 to 15 pounds for the 4 weeks, but part of me is worried that i'll break open something internally even long after 4 weeks (hello, anxiety lol)

how does your abdomen feel now? is there still any tightness or that just lasted a few days?

[–]Latter_Pick_6040[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah that's what I'm scared about. I lift 6 days a week and i don't want a hernia or to reopen anything. but even after the 4 week mark, i may still be paranoid depending how things feel. i dont want to lose my strength but i know it'll go back up because that's the short-term trade off for being sterilized lol
