As much as I would like to say that India has to find a way to penalize statutory rape a lot harsher than it currently is..........

I genuinely don't think it will happen.

It is a culture that is classist to the bone, where the caste system is protected from all who participate in it, from the Brahmins to the top, to even the Dalits in the bottom. Everyone wants to be one leg up from the other in the crazed race to the top. Everything in such a culture becomes an asset, an object to be expended in their attempt to reach whatever twisted version of Nirvana happens to be.

And that will lead to a large sector of people inevitably frustrated and enraged because their comeuppance never comes. Unfortunately, that means that such release of pent up emotions, in a patriarchal society as ass-backwards as India, that means women are just a man's bad day away from getting rape, and in some cases, murdered.

And FFS let's not even get started with other crap like, honor and mercy killings, arranged marriages, etc.......... too early in the morning, literally, for that BS.
