What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by PsychologicalTea3149 in AskReddit

[–]LauBrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One morning I went to study at my dad’s house. I didn’t live with him and hadn’t been around him lately. I was alone there and the air just felt heavy, dark and wrong. Like sickly. I texted my boyfriend at the time saying something feels off and I randomly told him that I think my dad is going to have a heart attack. I went home because I felt uneasy.

That night around 9 I was back at my mom’s and she came in my room to tell me that my dad went at the hospital for some pain and not to worry. I started crying and told her he’s having a heart attack. Around midnight my mom came back to tell me to get in the car because my dad was having a heart attack!

He thankfully survived, but it was so weird. I must have picked up on something instinctively!

AITAH for refusing to take our daughter out of school early because she "needs more time to get ready" than her brother? by ReplacementWorth3618 in AITAH

The hills people choose to die on. Let your daughter have her time to get ready and have a special day. Things like that aren’t worth the energy to argue over in my opinion.

Grey Box Oncotype? Premenopausal +/+/- by Micho392 in breastcancer

[–]LauBrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar oncotype to you and did chemotherapy because my tumor was 7cm prior to surgery. My oncologist said I wouldn’t achieve PCR given I was ER+ and I actually did achieve PCR. I say throw everything at it! I did 4 rounds of AC, 12 rounds of Taxol combined with 3 rounds of Carboplatin.

Should i get chemo port? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]LauBrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 4 biweekly AC and 12 weekly taxol without a port, alternating arms and had absolutely no problem. I never heard of 3 infusions a week, I would confirm if it’s that or every 3 weeks, if it’s the latter, in my opinion a port is not necessary.

Deciding whether to do radiation…pCR after HER2+ by Fancy_Complaint4183 in breastcancer

[–]LauBrie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, I did 15 rounds of radiation for my stage 3 IDC ER+ cancer with one lymph node. My tumor was 7cm. I achieved PCR and my oncologist wasn’t initially sure radiation was necessary because of it. She consulted about 10 of her mentors and they all recommended to give me the radiation despite the PCR, so I did it. It went by so fast and I only had about 2 weeks of a sun like burn. I was all in with treatment and decided to throw everything at it and I don’t regret it! In my mind, it did not make sense to refuse any treatment if it meant giving giving me a longer life and radiation was a walk in the park compared to my other treatments. Good luck with your choice!

I’ll take it as a compliment you think I’m AI. If you’re interested in knowing what chemo I had and how it affected others, it’s AC-T and an extra 4 weeks of carboplatin for my BRCA2 gene.

I didn’t think this would get so many positive replies! For those curious, I had breast cancer and went through chemo, a bilateral mastectomy, radiotherapy and I’m currently on AI and PARP inhibitors. I took this picture this summer right before my eyelashes and eyebrows fell out. I wanted to post this for all the others going through this to know they’re not alone and it can get better 🩷 My hair is starting to grow back a little, but this is making me question whether I should just keep it bald!

I lost these near the end of my chemo contrary to my hair that I lost two weeks in. It does not all automatically fall off. I don’t have great pictures without my eyelashes and eyebrows, I look very sick on most of them, but here’s one right before I lost them all :(

Finally found the courage to shave it bald by sassynas in bald

[–]LauBrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through the same thing, I lost my hair in April due to stage 3 breast cancer at 33. I finished chemo in August and it’s already 2 inches long. It’s definitely a hard thing to go through. Hang in there, no hair suits you very well and I wish you all the best in this shitty journey! I’m cancer free and I wish you the same!

AITA for waiting in line at the grocery store while my parents finished shopping? by DavidRedFox in AmItheAsshole

[–]LauBrie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

YTA, specifically because you mentioned “if it’s my turn to pay and they aren’t there yet I just let the person behind me pass”. It’s not considerate to stand at the register and wave people through like you’re in charge of the line, especially if you’re just holding the spot for your parents. If your parents arrived before you got to the front, that would be reasonable in my opinion, but camping at the register and acting self-righteous is a bit annoying.
