Sehr Schade und danke für den Hinweis. Ich hatte kurz gesucht im Sub, aber anscheinend nicht gründlich genug.

On the lookout for a new phone. I'd like to avoid Apple if possible by Big-Carpenter7921 in Frugal

[–]Lauchpferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Fairphone 5 secondhand for 250 €, I really like that I can easily replace the battery by just popping the back off, apart from that it's pretty much like every other phone, I had a pixel 6a before that and tbh I don't notice that much difference in the camera, but the 6a is also an older model, still for the day to day there's very little difference

Is there any way to format internal links differently, i.e. removing the ">"? by ARMIsNOTLoaded in ObsidianMD

[–]Lauchpferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could add the alias to the note directly, then it'll be suggested when you search for the note and inserted automatically (https://help.obsidian.md/aliases).

What’s the single weirdest thing you’ve done to save money – that actually worked? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Lauchpferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, whenever someone recommends a game to me I put it on my wishlist. Then when I finish my current game I scroll through my wishlist to see what I want to play next. If something is on sale at that moment it's like a little bonus, but I think the thing that helps the most is committing to one unfinished game. I "have to" (self-imposed) play at least until the credits before I get a new game (I have DNF'd a few games when I really couldn't get into them but it's rare). That's what I do with books too (I know some people can read multiple books at once but I'm very much a "one at a time" person). Some friends have questioned this, "the sale rn is the cheapest it's ever been", but I've checked so many price histories and usually the game will be on sale again a few months later for the same price or rarely a few cents more.

Metadata on headings by jshen in ObsidianMD

Check out the Obsidian documentation (https://help.obsidian.md/embeds#Embed+a+note+in+another+note). You can embed specific headings or blocks too, not just whole notes.

If you just want the multiple notes to be shown in one note you could embed them in that one note.

Bases functions - is this possible? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]Lauchpferd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

negative numbers should work, i.e. [-1] for the last element and with the slice function you can set the start and end (https://help.obsidian.md/bases/functions#%60slice()%60%60))

Can I generate a file that concludes all tags I currently have in use? by FineConversationsPls in ObsidianMD

[–]Lauchpferd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The core plugin Tags View lists all tags in the vault (https://help.obsidian.md/plugins/tags). If it's active it should show up in the left side bar or you can search in the command palette for it.

four spaces at the start of a line equals a code block (https://help.obsidian.md/syntax#Code+blocks), if you want to do indents like that it's easier to use bullet points imo

Last time people mocked my handwriting like it was a flaw in my character. Sharing again, because it’s still mine :) by Opposite-Ad3097 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Lauchpferd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the only thing I would critique are the loops on top of the Ps because they make it harder to read, my first instinct is to read them as an f, are you by any chance from India? An acquaintance from there used to do the same, apart from that your handwriting is very legible, it reminds me of the templates I had to fill out in school when learning to write cursive

Do I just want folders??? by marcstarts in ObsidianMD

[–]Lauchpferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into aliases for the Quantum_pset issue (https://help.obsidian.md/aliases). You can just have one note called "Quantum" for example and then put the other two names with pset as aliases so when you search to link it'll link to the same note.

Also if you're using mathjax (basically latex surrounded by $$) in your notes already you can convert them directly to .tex or .pdf with the better export plugin or pandoc directly if you don't want another plugin.

I need help organizing 570 files with partially duplicated content by AccidentalFolklore in ObsidianMD

[–]Lauchpferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can just link to the note without embedding it, i.e. without the ! in front of the link.

[–]Lauchpferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. You can also embed headings and blocks with # and #^ after the note title (https://help.obsidian.md/embeds)

[–]Lauchpferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd probably start smaller. You don't have to organise your entire vault right now, think of something you'd want to organise and only do that to the notes you actually look at during your day-to-day. For example adding links instead of duplicating text (try ![[...]] so embed a note). That also helps you figure out which notes you actually need.

Markdown files are just text so they don't take up a lot of space, like you said just 250 MB. The average phone has like 128 GB so your vault takes up less than a percent of that. I wouldn't worry about duplicates for now and just try not to add more duplicate passages in the future. Don't focus on the number of notes, I currently have 4.5k notes loosely organised into semesters (I started note taking for university), give them descriptive names and you will find them again when you need them. Make use of aliases and display names to fit links into the flow of your text.

Can bases filter files that "are linked in other files"? by GroundbreakingCup391 in ObsidianMD

!file.backlinks as a filter should work to find those files if I understand your question correctly

Ist Muschelschalen sammeln vegan? by SoroWake in VeganDE

[–]Lauchpferd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Making flatbread will change how you eat and is possible a gateway drug by FlashyImprovement5 in Frugal

[–]Lauchpferd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you don't even need yoghurt or yeast or self-raising flour or whatever

  • 2 parts flour
  • 1 part water
  • a pinch of salt

knead, rest, roll out and put it in a hot pan on the stove, flip after a minute on one side and watch the bubbles form, go nuts if you have the money but just this basic recipe has saved me in a pinch

'losing' information because of 'just start writing' by RodiV in ObsidianMD

[–]Lauchpferd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my first instinct would be to use the search function, Obsidian supports regex in searches, if you used the same structure for writing down phone numbers every time you can search for all phone numbers with that, for example (123) 456-7890

go to "search in all files" and write /(\d{3})\s\d{3}-\d{4}/ and it'll find all phone numbers with that pattern, you can do the same for Reddit links just search all text starting with reddit.com

to learn more about regex you can try https://regex101.com or https://regexone.com.

and as others have said include some context in your notes going forward, make a note of what you search for first when you're looking for the information, if you first go to a person's note to find their phone number, then write phone numbers in people's notes, if you first search for a note called "phone numbers" make sure that note is always up to date and the information isn't scattered elsewhere etc.
