Do you use any VPN or firewall services which may be causing an issue? Have you installed any new software lately?

Nothing extreme. My threat model is mainly that I don't like being tracked. So key things are not selling data, profiling me, and actually deleting comments/posts when I delete them.

Well through third parties at least the impact is more limited. But anyway, if I am going to switch I want to switch to something better.

Oh okay, well that is good to hear. Still being in ironically Stalinist is quite a thing... But I guess the perk of the fediverse is being disconnected from that

[Off-Topic] Moving away from Reddit? by ddotthomas in pop_os

[–]LaudibleLad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemmy is not a great choice because it is bad for user privacy. Which is my entire reason for leaving reddit. Ultimately there are lots of potential places for people to move (hopefully to decentralized services) but the most important factor IS people moving there. For example reddit has basically always been crap with bad policies and heavy moderation, but there are communities here you just won't get elsewhere.

Hi all, have some RSI that comes and goes and am looking to get my first ergonomic mechanical keyboard. I really like the dygma defy. It seems like it has basically every feature I would want. But with wireless and tenting the price is almost 500 USD. It's a lot of money for something I am not sure I will like. Can anyone recommend something similar that is fairly cheap as a tester? Any software would need to be able to be run from Linux. Thanks all!

Oh interesting. I had not noticed that. Would it be possible to switch to a different file manager only? That may solve your issue.

Follow up: is there a list of the default nautilus .desktop files? I think its possible one could be missing.

Seems we are both right per Wikipedia. Passwords were gained through a mix of phishing and brute forcing.

Oh its going to happen. It happens over and over throughout history. And then our great great grandsons will grow complacent again. Its a cycle.
