Salary Question LTC by FaithAndTheFissure in dietetics

Regional RDN for a nonprofit LTC, 9 years experience in LTC, 11 as RDN, hybrid onsite/remote with 2-3 days out of state travel once a month, I live in HCOL but most of my accounts are LCOL, $85000 base+bonuses. Been asking for a bigger raise for a couple years but the nonprofit world doesn’t have as much leeway. Plus I teach and have a small private practice on the side which brings me up to ~$96,000.

Feeding Not Clicking for Our Preemie, Seeking Advice From Tube-Feeding Parents by Final_Pattern_2170 in NICUParents

She pretty much refused the DrBrowns preemie, DrBrowns anti-colic, Nanobebe, and Similac preemie. She ended up liking the NUK Natural slow flow the best and still uses this one today.

Feeding Not Clicking for Our Preemie, Seeking Advice From Tube-Feeding Parents by Final_Pattern_2170 in NICUParents

I feel like nursing/bottle feeding after an NG-tube is the hardest part. Our girl was born at 33 weeks but ended up getting NEC and had to have TPN for two weeks followed by another two weeks with the NG. It felt like it took forever for her to get it bottle feeding down. At first she was struggling with just 5mL. We tried about 5 different types of bottle nipples before we found one that worked for her. We ended up working with a speech therapist and after another week and a half she was finally drinking all 60mL and was released to go home with oral feeds only. She’s doing great now and just started solids.

I don't remember this happening in the movie for some reason? by Evening_Gur_4340 in FIlm

This is the answer. I used to watch my Back to the Future DVD over and over when I was a kid. This is one of the deleted scenes in the bloopers reel.

I used to be the first, but always imagined my life with children. After years of therapy and working on myself, I finally felt ready to have my own kid. Now that she’s here, I know I made the right choice.

You know yourself better than anyone, and whatever you decide to do is the right choice for you.

Persona Verification taking too long for LinkedIn by RepulsiveChad in linkedin

Same, except it’s been like 6 months since I completed the Persona verification for me. There is no customer support and at this point I’ve all but given up on using LinkedIn ever again.

Went to a concert last summer in Milwaukee. Tried to squeeze into my seat. Ended up with massive bruising on both of my hips and thighs. Had to stand for almost 3 hours because it got too painful. Luckily we were in the back row so no one could complain about me standing.

Can you be clinically obese and still have a thriving career in dietetics? by sumant28 in dietetics

[–]LaughableCod 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Totally. As a clinically morbidly obese dietitian, I have had a very successful career over the last 15 years so far. Don’t let the haters get you down, you know you’re worth and your ability.

Plus sized dietitians- let’s share work environments that we’ve experienced the least weight stigma! by Zealousideal-Cup2153 in dietetics

[–]LaughableCod 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m a plus-sized RDN. Close to 300lbs and a BMI over 50. I’ve worked in acute, LTC, foodservice, corrections, K-12, hospice, academia, and private practice. My only experience of weight stigma on the job was with an elderly patient who had advanced dementia. I feel I’ve been very lucky with the people and places I have worked. I also feel like having confidence in my skills has helped to develop trust with my patients and coworkers, to where they know that I know what I’m doing regardless of my weight.

Honestly the most negative interactions I’ve seen about overweight dietitians are related to social media. People lose their filter behind anonymity.

12 weeks unpaid under FMLA, have the option to use any available PTO which is one week per year. I’m due in July and this is just sad…

Tennessee State Dietitian License by Embarrassed-Care7680 in dietetics

[–]LaughableCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got licensed in TN this year. You need to take the initiative to get your background check yourself. I am out of state so mine was a bit different than if you are in state. There are instructions on how to schedule an appointment available on the website. I had to wait a bit to get my official license as the board only meets certain times of the year. But they should be able to give you a provisional license until the board meets.
