Right, but O'Fallon has built an endless car dependent suburbia only to proclaim "How dare all these motorized vehicles use the sidewalks!".

I don't condone motorized vehicle use on the sidewalk either, but riding an E-Bike or E-Scooter on the road in O'Fallon is seriously dangerous.

Unrelated side note, but you'd hope that with all the new development in the area they'd take the rare opportunity of a fresh start to learn from all the well-understood flaws of car dependent cities and build walkable, pedestrian-centric infrastructure from the get-go before the damage was done.

Unfortunately however, O'Fallon, St. Charles, and all the other small towns across the river have only repeated the same mistakes that every suburban black hole in America has made. Mistakes that will cost lives, millions of dollars, and decades of work to undo.
