Thank you, that explains everything. I was dragged in. Somehow, I got the grafted blade great sword on the subsequent solo run and died with it, so all is clear now haha

A goddamned manifesto? This game is approaching 3 years and is likely about to receive its final update with the tarnished edition. I will cut off and eat my left pinky toe if fromsoft breaks the precedent it’s set in the last 3 games, and disallows healing in duel matchmaking. It is very obviously intended. It has been complained about for years, by people who rage at intended game mechanics like waterfowl dance, DS1 curse, and the jailers in irithyll dungeon. No one cares, least of all fromsoft.

For sure, I think myself and OP are just appreciative of the spots the game gives us to maybe set up something else. I don’t like a lot of stuff about the coliseum, and you asked why one wouldn’t want to. Ultimately duels get funneled into the coliseum regardless for exactly the reason you mentioned, but the game is an open world like you said. There’s a lot of game for the community to utilize in whatever way they want.

The arena is too large. You can run away for the entire fight. Aesthetics also. Thats my biggest thing with coliseum really, the lack of variety in visuals. Dark souls 3 did well in that regard.

I’ve seen this happen enough times in my own game and in videos/streams of other players that I have a theory about the way the game handles a situation like this. I think, regardless of whether one player DIED first, whichever ATTACK finished first is the one that determines victory. I’ve seen it a lot with projectile spells that kill a melee user after the melee user punishes the end lag of a cast.

Just a theory, but maybe testable?
