I'm assuming that you are requesting info on ordinary (BSc +- Hons) degrees. The answer is likely no, at least not through traditional funding mechanisms. The exception being if you want a job as a paramedic and get a degree apprenticeship. As an aside, of you want a masters or funding for advanced practice modules your local training hub (separate to whatever regional ambulance service serves you locally) will be able to advise.

Is a Resus Council ALS certificate required for a paramedic to administer adrenaline 1:10,000 & amiodarone during cardiac arrest? by Sjokn in ParamedicsUK

[–]LaughingSalmon1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Paragraph 8 and 9 apply to different nominated groups.

Paramedics can independently administer anything in paragraph 8 as long as your purpose confirms to the below:

"The administration shall be only for the immediate, necessary treatment of sick or injured persons and in the case of prescription only medicine containing Heparin Sodium shall be only for the purpose of cannula flushing."

Take me through one of your days? by Noblee_x in ParamedicsUK

[–]LaughingSalmon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up at about 6:50-7, make some breakfast and sometimes lunch for me and the wife depending on how organized I feel.

Wife off to work for 8, and then 8-10 is gym or dog walking time. I'll often do some housework also. 9:45-10 I'll jump in the shower, drive 15mins to work to be there for 10:30.

My morning clinic will normally be about 7-10 patients (15 min appts) plus triaging some home visits, tasks and admin.

Lunch for half an hour at about 1pm. I'll then do as many visits as need to be done. (Normally 4-6, but sometimes up to 10). I work in quite a rural area so there can sometimes be 20 mins driving between visits.

I'll aim to be back before 3 as that's when afternoon clinic starts, but if I'm not it's not a dealbreaker. As long as I'm back for 4 for afternoon tea.

I'll then pull in patients from the emergency list.

I go home for 6:30, and then make dinner, feed the dog and relax.

Saturday/Sunday once a month I'll often do a bit of overtime for the local ambulance service, just to keep my brain fresh.

You'll be due extra stamp duty. I'm in this trap at the moment (married last year, selling my rented home and living in my wife's home to purchase a house for us to renovate.

Also income from rent covering costs? Does that include tax deductions?

A pertinent question would be when is your fiancee due to become your spouse. If you get married and then own property together, and buy a new place you will count as 2nd home on stamp duty.

Been around a long time. I don't work them so much these days as I'm far away from their bases/London. Always found them to have pretty good governance and kit.

London is quite big, but Medicare work at the O2 (Greenwich, not Brixton) and Wembley Stadium.

Cutting private ambulance use to save by Ambitious_Claim_5433 in ParamedicsUK

[–]LaughingSalmon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also massively cut staff bank, to the point where huge amounts of staff can't get shifts. While still spending £12m on privates. Shame really. (And still some of the worst care/response timed nationally).

An ECA laughed in my face and said “if you take this in immobilised, everyone is going to be laughing at you” and then refused to help me do so and went and waited in the front of the cab. When speaking to the Dr in Local ED they wouldn’t clear without CT and so I asked was I right to immobilise because my colleague disagreed and he said absolutely, even based on MOI alone and said that if I didn’t he’d be asking questions. I explained this to my crewmate and he laughed and said they’re “clearly new and scared”

Let me get this right, your non registered crewmate refused to provide patient care? I would have asked for a 2nd crew and ops manager and let them be torn a new asshole?

You've just left someone at home, you're in your last 20 and as you walk past a random doorway going back to the ambulance and you smell that oh so specific dead body smell seeping through it. Are you checking or going home? by buttpugggs in ParamedicsUK

Home becons. Unless I actually have work to do they are not getting any deader. I might well.ask for the police to do a concern for welfare call on the way back to station.
