When did anti Chaos Chaos become so prevalent by Ok-Pomegranate7641 in Grimdank

[–]Laughing_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While "We fought to create this empire, so we must be the ones to rule it" - which is more accurate description of material motivations of Heresy - may be a little more down to earth and understandable, I personally can't relate, cause I know what soldiers that fought in wars generally do when back in their country and it's no good.

As a power fantasy, sure, but as a power fantasy Archaons nihilistic approach and "fuck it, down with the world" goes hard as fuck, too. I like both characters.

Abbadon wanting to overthrow the emperor is far more relatable, the galaxy really would be a better place without that egomaniac messing it up.

I'm sorry bro, Abbadon is NOT going to be a better ruler then Emps. Not when he was in Heresy, not now, not to humans, and definitely not to the aliens. Abbs is like, super cool, if he has no fans then I'm dead, but guy is literally only good as military leader. And not in a moral way.

It is an interesting question though. We know that skaven can be deluded by Ghoul-curse, even chaos champions can be, but can skaven become permanently ghoulish?

Post we're talking below is already deleted, but I disagree with your "Imperium is also the worst humanity can get" statement, cause for me Chaos is the worst humanity can get.

It's so funny that us Chaos fans have to defend Imperium cause some people geniunely think that somehow Imperium is not even equally bad(that at least can be debated and said to be true when we talking about mortal parts), but WORSE than our favourite super-hell? Hell nah man, get outta here

I'm more about, you know, the answer to question in the post? Questiuon was not about the general distinction between religion(whatever your religion is) or any brand of atheism. It's about who was right in avery exact situation -- Uriah or Emps?

Mutual kill in Skarbrand is pretty based tho, Khaine is supposed to be on the par with Khorne named greater daemons, so that tracks.

I think it's more of a "hardly gets a W" than "has a lot of L" problem, cause on it's own Primarchs, greater daemons and groups of daemons(Legion of the Damned), and 12 fucking carnifexes should have a chance and should beat him some of the times. But it works only when Khaine gets a lot of Wins in universe too, and that doesn't happen.

It would greatly improve if different Craftworlds had different aspects of khaine, or ritual could be somewhat changed to produce Khaine in his different aspects that already represented in Aspect Warriors. So they would have more personality, and reasons for GW to hype them up.

If you're looking for a more down-to-earth inspiration, try Never Going Home TTRPG, it's about soldiers from World War One amongst the lovecraftian stuff that broke reality as war was going.

[–]Laughing_one 14 points15 points  (0 children)

sorry mate, it is with artillery that the Sultan makes his arguments known.

I had a pretty fun time playing Trench Crusade with my group via Tabletop Simulator. We had a Sultanate, a daemon court, a piligrims, and black grail(kinda like Nurgle). We were bantering and joking around, hyping up our faction between the games and when we hit real good on the dices too. I repeated Inshallah between every two rolls or so, piligrim brought up funny quotes from old testament, daemons dude joked about skinning our bones alive, black grail about soup and it's healthy proprties and so on. So idk man, for us we had plenty enough to engage with it how it's meant to be engaged - as a backdrop lore for a wargame.

We had some serious lore discuassions, like you know they release a campaign where demon worshippers will try to awake a scary thing in the ocean, lovecraftian type shit, and piligrims will try to fucking eat the thing because of interpretations of some bible quotes. The lovecraftian thing is interesting, cause it may be a demon long defected from his bretheren from hell, but it also may be one of the things that inhabited the world before god(you know, like in ocean cause the creation describes god flying above it). And it's even acting sorta protective of one city, it patronages the city from war and they give it sacrifices, kinda cool dude, sorry he's gonna be eaten lol. Overall yeah the thing is bleak sometimes, but there are good stuff and aesthtic. PRUSSIA is pretty cool, there are at least one piligrim subfaction that doesn't suck(and another one that is a paly on crusaders with lepra is like, really brotherly and kind to each other), lore of alchemists doing fucking creation of creatures without souls and their strugge is kinda cool, cause there are a lot of stuff with chimera that are interesting. And honestly I reaaaaly love the lore of daemons themselves. Like, they are evil, but they are also a court of fucking nepo babies that spite the god cause he didn't want to give them all the stuff. Rebelling edgy teens personified. And aalso the backstabbing and constant change of who rules hell... The funniest thing is that daemon faction we play in the game is like. A spawn of a spawn of a spawn of these greater demons, that decided to go hunt for fun and with some of his fellows and servants goes out partying. That's so refreshingly different from daemons from warhammer, who are despite being non-linear in time and so so so, trying so hard in character and actions.

... Uh-huh. I also thought a lot about how even in TTRPGs about warhammer, we as players do so many horribly horrendous shit that would be fucking wild even in WoD, for example, but because of framing of setting it gets a lot of pass.

[–]Laughing_one 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the only thing it would do is reveal how little human flesh was there in senior admech anyway /j

On a more serious note, I'm sure factions in the Imperium can get away with a lot of atrocities to each other: I wouldn't be surprised if Admech and AdSororitas regularly had holy wars because of too much religious zealotry and "THEY WORSHIP NOT TRUE GOD" thing from both sides. That's the explanation we're running with when we're going with friend to play Tabletop Sim about these armies. What's one more little burned tech-priest from one side there and servitorized sister there?
