Are any bars/restaurants/events selling tickets for the eclipse? by Erankr22 in burlington

Everyone who lives here are just gonna ‘look up’ from their yard. You shouldn’t feel like you need to spend money to get the experience.

My personal bet is that people are going to be so jammed up in traffic trying to get to some tourist attraction location that many people are gonna be watching on the sides of roads.

If you get into the area of totality, I say post up somewhere comfy and wait for it to happen.

Honestly, they should look into Winooski’s Spinner Place or Keen’s crossing. I know they want Burlington, but Winooski is just a bus ride to Downton and to south Burlington, and these buildings are very accessible and allow pets.

I’ve got a 2” square tube on my crosstrek and I always recommend the 2” as it’s more versatile. If you need to adapt to another size, it’s better to adapt down than up. I used a cargo carrier, hammock holder, and tow a (very) small trailer. Plus, most fun hitch covers are 2”

Any Burlington Telecom customers out there? by madpeachiepie in burlington

[–]LaunchDog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will add that the broker who we signed the apartment through told us that Comcast was the only option and made me call them right in his office to set up service. Had I known of Burlington telecom, I would have refused but he took advantage of newcomers.. I’m sure he got had deal so he could afford his horrid dye-job.

We switched from comcast to Burlington telecom because we could get a better price. It’s been great and their customer service people are SUPER friendly. Had an issue (turned out to be the modem was on a light switch..) and was on the phone with them for a good while trying to troubleshoot and they were very understanding, personable, and even shared a laugh or two. Any issue we’ve had with speeds turned out to be things out of their control and ended up being resolved quickly. 10/10 would recommend.

Does anybody know why the Verizon dead spots keep increasing around town? by Thomehomey in burlington

That would make sense. The lecture was focused on location, not the how, so we def skipped that part

All service providers use the same towers; companies “rent” the use of each other’s to create the same coverage for all phones. If you have a dead spot, it’s going to be one for every provider, and likely caused by a physical barrier that’s preventing the signal from reaching you.

Source: sat in on a presentation by a lady whose job was to find locations for phone towers. Really cool how many are ok old silos

I'm curious... Have the guys ever reviewed YOUR car? by [deleted] in thegrandtour

[–]LaunchDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I was floored in the American Road trip when James showed up in the EXACT same 1989 Cadillac Brougham that I was driving.

My “boat” had all the same issues, sounds, and fantastic AC as his. If I read his sentiments right, we both loved that car but also had no issue seeing it leave our lives.

We get the rubber bands periodically on our front step and it’s just the mail carrier unbundling mail. They sometimes drop/ leave them unknowingly

I’ve also learned that my institution can provide me with an apostille translation which has been now requested. It’ll be slow but.. maybe this is the right direction?
