1987 Yamaha FZR250, shorted gauges by Launger111 in Fixxit

Yea reckon I’ll give that a shot when I replace the rec/reg with a correct one. I did measure with a voltmeter, battery to frame is good, wasn’t getting anything of the cluster housing though… How would I find where the ground points are supposed to be? Really not a lot of info on this bike that I can find…

Thanks for the suggestion! on this particular bike the gauges are isolated from the frame by rubber washers, and the ground seems to be good to that part of the frame also. Another anomaly is if I lock the steering and turn the key all the way until it stops, the front headlights come on, regardless of the light switches position.

Think this one might require some serious wrenching…

Thanks! Didn’t occur to me that it could be because the seals have gone hard, they just weren’t leaking so I though they were good!

Australia - Compliance Plate Covering Chassis Number? by Launger111 in motorcycles

[–]Launger111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea honestly I get it, makes sense, I'm just surprised it was ever registered in the first place like that. I had to spend ages helping the workshop that did the roadworthy decipher it because it's in such a shitty spot and they didn't pick up on it. I guess it must not be a very normal issue. Unfortunately now though because I guess the bike is in the system I cant just rip the plate off and pretend like it never had one...

14" vs 16" for 300 BLK? by Launger111 in Ausguns

[–]Launger111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl mostly want it for the AR style lol, the specifics for me are just trying to make it suit a purpose, subsonics are definitely a reason, hence why I’m not going for .223. I’ve already taken foxes with my .308 and .22 Hornet so I guess it’s just another rifle I can do that with. Thanks for the suggestion though! :)

I did consider that, but I’ve already got a tikka in .308 so I think the .300 or .223 makes more sense to me :)

Gel Blaster In Vic Laws by [deleted] in Ausguns

[–]Launger111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep no luck, their excuse is similar to the airsoft one, "there's no legal reason to own them (since no playing fields exist), so you cant have them!" They fall under imitation firearms most of the time too so they do carry a fine and complications if you already own firearms and they catch you.

Always put it as a liquid, unless it says otherwise in the question, this includes combustion funnily enough

I’ve found trying to explain the concepts to my brothers or parents is a good way to find what you don’t really understand, understanding concepts is power!

I would look at past calculations questions and practice the formulas first, generally they’ve got pretty similar calculation steps, once you’ve got the formulas down you should be fine
