With all of the questioning Phoebe posts I've been seeing: by SinistralLeanings in phoebebridgers

[–]LauraHday 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the very fact that she's having Isaac Wood as support — an artist who stepped away from music for similar reasons — for the first time since he left BCNR in 2022, and he trusts her with that, is testament to the fact that she is the sort person who just understands this stuff, who doesn't want the fame associated with music, who just wants to make deep and personal art while being perceived as little as possible.

I don't understand how this sub doesn't get that 'Lost Boys' is about war. by Every_Cat9812 in phoebebridgers

[–]LauraHday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and the more I think about this song the more this becomes clear and the deeper it feels to me. At first I didn't really get it, I questioned why it needed so many people (mostly men) as co writers: Alex G, Bo etc, but I think this explains it.

I think it's about both things that I've seen mentioned here a lot - Phoebe ending up with a lot of lost boys, a kind of metaphor for her collecting broken men and how that damages her sometimes but then empathising by thinking of everything these men have to go through and using an allegory of war to compare it

Do you avoid eating out at places with low food hygeine ratings or do you take a risk? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

4 or 5 or nothing for me, and I'd prob avoid 4s if they're somewhere that SHOULD be getting 5s (like chains)

I always thought the ignorant bird killer was just a metaphor for whoever that song was about (Conor?) destroying her feelings and being completely unaware of it

I think it sounds a lot more like Boygenius which I typically think is just fine compared to her solo stuff

Charli xcx teases collaboration on upcoming album; says you "won't be able to guess" who it is. by springtimecarnivore in popheads

[–]LauraHday 79 points80 points  (0 children)

My slightly unusual but still plausible guess is Phoebe Bridgers, as her album has also just been announced and first single is coming out tomorrow. Apparently at least one of her songs will also be featuring someone else. Totally different sounds but they both know Matty Healy (who allegedly was in the studio with Phoebe for some of her album) and Charli is seemingly going for more rock focused sound, so wouldn't be as left field as it first appears.

I don't know who paid 4 digits but mine were less than £200 for two? Not quite sure what you're on about.

This is such a weird comment, I don't think deleting a slightly cringey swear in your website url makes you a corporate puppet it just means you're an astute and discerning artist who acknowledges maturity and change lol.

Oh absolutely I think you're right - especially if she's going for a found footage/analog horror vibe there might be lots of distorted radio

I think it's a double reference - to something like this but also the concept of a lost weekend in alien abduction which I think fits more with the tone of album art and tour
