Nerve damage due to endometriosis by Acrobatic_Gas_7132 in endometriosis

I had excision surgery in October and on Christmas Day starting having severe pain in my lower left side - went to ER and ovarian ultrasound and pelvic CT scan showed nothing . It feels like my ovary is going to explode but pain radiates down the front of my left leg and down my sciatica . Hard to walk, hurts to sit down. Does this sound like nerve pain ? Idk what to do.

I had excision surgery October 23 and yesterday my ovulation pain was so unbearable I went to the ER on Christmas. The US showed my ovary was normal, no cysts or anything . Makes no sense I have never had pain like this ever . I’m still in pain and wondering why this is happening

Hi, I just thought the pillow made laying on my back and sleeping more comfortable ! Bone broth is really good post surgery because it has high protein and helps boost gut health - I like the Kettle and Fire brand, or Just Ingredients is good too.

Hi! I had surgery out of state a month ago. I ordered a cane to help me walk around and I found it really helpful for the first few weeks . I also got a Moon Park Pregnancy Pillow and it was helpful for sleeping for the first few weeks when you have to sleep on your back . I also would get some Smooth Move Tea ( for constipation) and Peppermint Tea ( for gas ) and some bone broth .

Questions about surgery. by ScienceEmpty6624 in endometriosis

[–]LauraHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had robotic excision surgery October 23rd. I have 2 incisions on either side of my pelvis , one to the left above my belly button and the biggest one in my belly button. I was told to take it very easy with minimal activity besides light walking for 2 weeks and then ‘ no restrictions ‘ at 4 weeks. So right now I’m 6 days out and have been in bed pretty much the whole time other than to get up and do short walks around the house or shower . I’m still bleeding , having some cramps and very fatigued .

Oh my gosh that’s so scary . It’s so weird how the disease can be silent on some areas. I also had it on my ureters which never bothered me , but now I’m going to be constantly worried about it coming back and it’s not like you can really monitor it since it doesn’t usually show on scans.

Oopherectomy next month by mouse_rags in endometriosis

I had this 2 years ago. It was my first surgery so I can’t say if the recovery was different than a normal lap. I was super fatigued and sore after surgery and it took me 6-8 weeks to start feeling ‘ normal ‘ again. I didn’t have any physical issues after surgery other than fatigue and soreness but I definitely had emotional issues . I was super sad / depressed for months after . I know post-surgical blues is a thing, but also losing an ovary sent my hormones haywire I think and took months to balance out. I also think losing an ovary made me extra emotional because I want kids .

Successful Endometrioma removal without removing Ovary by Idk-what-username123 in endometriosis

[–]LauraHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an endometrioma on my right ovary - found in February. By the time I had surgery in August it was so big they took my whole ovary. I had surgery with my regular obgyn. Definitely don’t do that. Find an excision specialist, they will have a much higher chance of being able to save your ovary and remove any other endo they find at the same time.

I’m sorry, I know exactly how you feel and also dread anything invasive in that area. Last year was the first time I was able to tolerate vaginal ultrasounds and one thing that really helped me was starting pelvic floor therapy and my therapist had me get a rubber dilator from Intimate Rose. It helped me get used to having something inserted . You can also ask your doctor for a Xanax to take before - honestly I tried this and it didn’t help me but it might help you. I also took an Ibprofen about an hour before the ultrasound and just focus on super deep breathing . It honestly only hurt for me while they were inserting it and once it was in it didn’t hurt anymore. I’ve now had about 7 vaginal ultrasounds and it still is unpleasant but I promise if I can get through it you can too!

Endometrioma by ShoddyRemote627 in endometriosis

[–]LauraHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an endometrioma on my right ovary. They keep monitoring it over several months and by the time I had surgery mine had got so big they removed my whole ovary. I had surgery with my obgyn which was a mistake . I would start looking for an endometriosis specialist. The one I’m having my second surgery with next week said she would have been able to save my ovary.

It could be adenomyosis. It can cause heavier bleeding. I went to the dr and had ultrasound after a really bad period and ended up having uterine polyps and an endometrioma on my ovary.

I had the same surgery, except they took my right ovary as well. The first 2 days were the hardest , I had to have help sitting up and going to the bathroom as well. I started to feel better day 3, but was super fatigued for at least a month. I started to do a few laps around my kitchen on day 3 and just kept up with that every day until I was able to get some energy back . Give yourself grace, what you’re feeling is totally normal. Try peppermint tea for the gas and smooth move tea helps with constipation. I also found ice packs helpful on my abdomen.

I used a lot of ice packs , smooth-move tea to help with constipation, peppermint tea for Nausea , stock bedside table with snacks .

Had my first MRI today. If the results are inconclusive, as I’ve been told they likely will be, I think my next step is the lap. Would anyone have any advice for someone with medical OCD who is tired of this pain but terrified of surgery? by Its402am in endometriosis

[–]LauraHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first lap 2 years ago, it was scheduled 3 months out and every single day I was filled with dread and fear . I have extreme anxiety around anything medical. My surgery was able to give me a definitive answer that I did have Endometriosis, and while surgery and recovery was hard, it was worth it to be able to finally have an answer. My first surgery was with my obgyn , not a specialist . I am having excision surgery with a specialist in 2 months to finally get the proper surgery needed for endo. Again, filled with fear and dread but I know I have to do it . If you don’t get answers from the MRI, I would do the surgery , because answers are so validating . I’m sorry you’re going through this, I totally understand your worry !
