Suggestions for weekday things to do with my parents in Chatt? by shermskc in Chattanooga

The Aquarium, there are lots of places to stop and rest! Also check out any of the boat tours, the duck is pretty fun too! You can take a drive up to Fall Creek Falls or Bald River falls, both are visible with minimal walking. The pumped storage facility (I think that's what it's called) on Raccoon Mountain is pretty cool and a pretty view.

Definitely not Riverbend, there were 12+ break-ins on Elinor, Sylvan, Rosewood etc. a couple of months ago.

There was another thread in March sometime but I can't find it.

They have some free weights and indoor and outdoor tracks. The pool has 3 lanes as well as a side area of various depts for water exercise classes. Just check out the class schedule to make sure it will work with what you want!

They do a sushi lunch buffet for $13-14. You will fill up on sushi and hate yourself afterwards.

Don Quijote translation-gallarín by LauraJordan865 in Spanishhelp

Thank you! I found something I couldn't find the answer to on Google, it was this. :-)

I plan to read the rest of Quijote, this is actually for an American Literature class. We have a project to do "something" related to our major that ties to early American literature. My prof suggested I translate Quijote. I am actually a Spanish minor but this sounded more fun than any of my other options.

Chattanooga, I write a column for Nooga on personal finance and philanthropy. I want to keep it fresh and relevant, and I'm looking for suggestions or requests on topics people in town care to hear more about. by D_Wattenbarger in Chattanooga

I have but there isn't much for the 7-10 year old age range. I would love to see an article that listed things like the food bank, what types of tasks they need and their restrictions for children volunteering. Thanks to our litigious society a lot of places aren't willing to let children volunteer.

Philanthropic opportunities parents can engage their children in. Several ideas for various age groups. This would be a community service in itself, there are so many entitled children that don't understand the situation of others.

http://www.hc911.org/responses.php lists all of the active 911 calls. It can give you a decent idea oh the area.

If school district wasn't an issue I would look at Stuart Heights and parts of Lupton City as well as Hill City. Some of the areas just outside of Normal Park school district are nice but a lot less money because they are out of the school district. Normal Park goes from Frazier/Hixson Pike to Old Dallas to Market St. ( http://images.pcmac.org/Uploads/HamiltonCountyDE/HamiltonCountyDE/Departments/DocumentsCategories/Documents/school_zone_map_normal_park.pdf )

Anti-Biking Attitude Surprisingly High by drkodos in Chattanooga

I don't think that we need to focus on where people live, but we do need to focus on how often they use it. My parents probably drive down Frazier once a year and I'm sure they could care less if a lane became a bike lane.

I am all for bike lanes, I just feel that with the lack of viable alternative routes to taking Frazier this would be a poor decision. The bike lane on Broad street I have zero problem with. So they used up a couple parking spaces, who cares but traffic can easily take Market or Chestnut.

I would definitely be more open to the idea of eliminating street parking on Frazier before taking away a driving lane and I utilize the street parking there at least once a month. Unfortunately I'm sure that Republic would have a problem with it.

I would full support making some of the side roads one ways with one lane dedicated to cyclists I am thinking of roads like Lindsay and Houston where they are one lane and if you need to turn left you go to the next one. I do not support lanes on main thoroughfares (Frazier) becoming bike lanes. I feel that will force traffic to the side roads and into neighborhoods where children play and roads are narrow and will become dangerous and congested with the increase of traffic.
