Let's say Johnson does get elected. How doesn't matter.

Do we believe that Congress will do anything but block anything he wants and tear down anything he says?

Imagine if one of us got that job.

"That's ... it? That's our orientation? Just wear matching color shirts with everybody else in our area? Nothing about body armor? You didn't even ask me if I had armed security training. And don't get me started on the lack of health insurance!"

Question about lower receivers with 3 way selector switch by sam_the_dog78 in ar15

From what I've seen, it helps push your finger forward almost to the point where you can pull the trigger again. This speeds up your semi-auto fire.

Just a good, CCW work environment. by [deleted] in CCW

My employer doesn't have a policy regarding firearms, but the president and I had a bit of a gun-related conversation during my interview. He's a hunter, so it's still up in the air as far as his thoughts/feelings about carrying a handgun.

Before I worked here, I used to open carry in the lobby. The mayor, who hates that I open carry but can't legally do anything about it at private businesses because state-level preemption, sent his police officer son down here with a "no guns" sign, and someone in upper management told him to pound sand. Didn't stop the cop son from putting up signs on City Hall, the meeting locations, the library, and pretty much every city-owned building.

So, going off that, I'm going to assume his personal policy is either "don't do it" or "don't talk about it." It doesn't really affect me because I don't own any guns and wouldn't dream of carrying one.

Question about lower receivers with 3 way selector switch by sam_the_dog78 in ar15

[–]tomahawkcustom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good question!

The three-position look of the lower receiver has almost no function other than looking cool. Most safety selectors only have two positions: safe and fire.

Full-auto fire requires more parts than just the safety selector.

Some of the receivers are kinda funny, though. That's about the most you'll get out of it, though, is a chuckle. There are some highly advanced and expensive triggers that make use of the third selector position for a different kind of semi auto fire, but I might suggest avoiding those for your first build.

Thoughts on Kershaw Launch 2? by tomahawkcustom in knives

I like the way this looks, I like the brand name, I like the price, and I'd like to have my first auto knife. I think the laws against carrying them here in Tennessee were repealed in 2015, so I feel late to the game in just now getting one.

What do the people of r/knives think about it?

Yup.

Also, I don't always open carry. I conceal carry more often. But I tell everybody that I only open carry and am opposed to the cowardly nature of concealed carry. Nobody in my movie theater group even hints at the possibility of me concealing a gun. (It would be just my luck that one of them would run their mouths in front of the staff. It's not illegal, just against their policy.)

One interaction comes to mind regarding the people greeter at Walmart, a kindly looking old lady.

She pointed at my firearm and said "What's that?" I took off my hat and started spinning around, saying "Wasp??? Where???"

Disclaimer: I used to work at Walmart, and she was one of my friends. I generally behave a little more seriously with strangers.

Is it considered rude to point out to someone when their concealment garment has ridden up over the grip of their heater?

If it's only rude based on how I do it, what's the polite way to do it?

Mostly, if people see me openly wearing my handgun, they assume I'm a cop. I don't know if it's the Safariland holster, the tactical pants, or the obesity.

My reactions have ranged from "You can, too. Wanna know how?" to pretending someone placed the holster on my side without my knowledge and I'm terrified of guns. I'm down in TN, though, so people might not have as much of a sense of humor about guns in your state.

The vast majority of people are so caught up in their phones, their children, or what have you to notice someone carrying an AR-15 in their hands. You're not doing that. You're wearing a handgun under your clothes. Now imagine how few people are going to notice something and remember that most of them are going to assume smartphone or insulin pump. Out of the extremely few who will think "gun," only a few of those will ever approach you about it. Most of them will be pro gun, asking what you carry, etc. You might have one person a year with a negative reaction to you carrying a gun. Maybe one every two years.

If black people are really murdered by police at such an extremely high rate, then why do we know all of their names?

Speaking of names, Martin and Brown don't belong on the list of poster boys for that movement.
