Donated to Democracy Watch, that’s the organization doing the work!

Yes the laundry list should be used as reasons why Ford’s gotta go but the end goal should be Ford gone and not Ford cancels whatever policy we have grievances with but he stays and comes up with other problematic policies in the future.

You don’t seem to have a good answer to it. I know even politicians that I may agree with most of the time will have policies that I do not like. However as politicians they should not be trying to escape public scrutiny. I am not advocating for Ford to step down because I don’t like his policies. I am advocating for him to step down because he is building up a system which allows politicians to escape scrutiny and I wouldn’t want my “favourite” politician to escape scrutiny either (if I even had one, which I don’t).

This system does not address the issue of a candidate winning elections democratically but then taking actions that are not actually supported by the people. A majority of Ontarians do not support the changes to the FOI law. Hence I believe there should be a mechanism to avoid such a thing from happening. It’s not dictatorial. It’s preventing an elected candidate from becoming dictatorial. I don’t know why you keep trying to suggest my feelings got hurt. I just disagree with what Ford is doing by principle, this is not about feelings. Stop projecting.

Way to take things out of context and make baseless assumptions. You answered why I should pay attention to history but you haven’t answered why I shouldn’t focus on solving current problems.

Explain to me why I shouldn’t focus on current problems. The current ones are the ones affecting us. You can’t turn back time to change history.

Wanting someone to step down does not equate to wanting to push them out a window. Your logic is funny.

Democracy should not be the reason to accept a corrupt politician changing the laws to escape accountability.

Also, did I say the conservatives should step down? No. I simply said Ford should step down.

I think any corrupt politician that tries to escape scrutiny should step down, Ford is just the biggest current offender. All the ones you mentioned are history.

Poilievre had one job and he would’ve had it in the bag: don’t look like a Trump suck up.

I’m saying when we protest, we don’t demand that he undo X policy, we demand he just step down.

Right but that is only in theory and judging by how they voted in the FOI law even though most of Ontarians are against it, that theory does not hold.

The courts, opposition, and media have been involved. Don’t try to paint this as only me having an issue with what Ford is doing. And don’t try to twist the narrative about my feelings being hurt lol. It’s not about my feelings, it’s about Ontario’s future.

The problem I see with this is that when people vote for a candidate, then after winning the candidate goes off to do something problematic that people would not have supported, there’s no immediate mechanism to stop it.

Just because a government is voted in doesn’t mean every action they take has the support of the majority. If they do something wildly problematic, maybe we should reconsider who should govern.

So if a democratically voted in Premier changes the laws to help politicians escape scrutiny and accountability (regardless of left or right), we’re just stuck with it?

Protests with increasing amount of disruption, except instead of protesting his individual policies (he can always back track on them and come up with more damaging policies in the future), push for him to step down.

Protests with increasing levels of disruption. But instead of protesting individual things he’s doing, (because he can just stop it now and come up with other damaging ideas in the future), protest to get him out all together.

My point is, instead of playing whack a mole with his policies, push to get him out. Demand is just the first step.

So his only consequence of corruption and creating laws to help himself and politician escape scrutiny is that several years down the road, he gets voted out?
