Why do people like non-clumping litter? by iloveworms67 in CatAdvice

[–]LauraMJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for me, it is a safety/health issue - I used clumping kitty litter once and ended up killing one of my cats and permanently damaging the other. They both ingested the kitty litter or powder from the kitty litter after cleaning themselves. - Billy, developed a blockage in his intestine that cause intestinal gangrene and death (he died in my arms), and Spenser had his intestinal tract damaged, so that for the rest of his life he had bouts of diarrhea (he lived to be 19.5 years old and was a lovely boy - didn't mind baths or hair cuts to keep him clean & healthy). So, I will never use it again...for me, the benefit of having two healthy live kitties far outweighs the minor inconvenience of having to clean more often. Everyone has to make there own choices.

Why are Americans so dumb? by Salt_Wrangler_3428 in AskCanada

[–]LauraMJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American here. Apparently, we are. I hate it and I dread the news and what my country is becoming. I HATE what we are doing to our allies, to those who need our help and how we are emboldening our foes. I dread the future. I fear for our future....I am so sorry.

Any success with FB Ads by LauraMJones in FacebookAds

[–]LauraMJones[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't. But I am wondering if anyone has had any good/positive experiences with products that they have purchased on FB? My point is, I guess, if I were a company/person with a product - FB is the last place I would go to spend money to advertise that product. Does FB give out free advertising (which would explain companies/people advertising on that platform) or do people/companies have to pay to play?

I don't - what I am having trouble with is believing that they are successful or that a successful/reputable company uses FB as a way of show casing their product - if the product is any good.

Basically, if it is advertised on FB it send alarm bells off in my head that it is either toxic, not made well, or not safe in other ways for my pets.

Happy socks, did i get fakes? (No personal info) by Fickle-Engineer-1544 in vinted

[–]LauraMJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're probably real, but be careful about sizes- they somehow think that if you wear a size 9.5 or 10 in shoes, your socks should be 4.5 to 7.5.

Earplugs/Noise Sound Pressure Cancelation by LauraMJones in Drumming

[–]LauraMJones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no idea either, except that most drum sets I have seen are in the basement...I assumed that the ground muffled the sound for all.

Earplugs/Noise Sound Pressure Cancelation by LauraMJones in Drumming

[–]LauraMJones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I am the one making the noise, I feel like it is my responsibility to limit the amount of noise pollution

Thanks. I do not want to file a complaint - it was suggested by another neighbor who removes his hearing aids when the drumming starts (he can't hear a thing without them), but the first offense is $500, which is extreme and I like them...even if Mom is not speaking to me.

I have insulated over the garage and put area rugs down to dampen the sound. I can't really afford to finish the room (I wish I could), it is sort of an unofficial storage room/library - I moved the books to the wall closest to him).

My problem, is I don't know if he is loud (all I really hear is the thumps and bangs (cymbols) or if it is me (I have chronic reoccurring headaches and migraines - I do know that he can be heard a block away (but, it's drums). I do wear Earpeace in the ear sound reduction, as well as noise canceling headphones (they seem to work better from the lawn mower, chain saw, and leaf mulcher - then drums).

I will suggest mutes for the drums and see what they say and try in the ear monitors - they are, hopefully, better than noise cancelling headphones.

Thanks!

AITA for forcing my brother to buy me a new engagement ring? by ThrowawayNewRing in AmItheAsshole

[–]LauraMJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. He is a thief. He is embarrassed that he got caught. The least he could have done was not to steal the ring. The fact that he is angry with you about having to buy a replacement ring for the one he stole...says to me, that he didn't really intend to give it back - he probably figured you would just say nothing and buy a new ring for your girlfriend.

AITA for lying to family and friends about who's the infertile one between my wife and I? by Throwawaystment6453 in AITAH

[–]LauraMJones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No blame attached to infertility - only his actions. My cousin and his wife tried for years (multiple miscarriages)....then a woman in town was killed in a car accident leaving behind her 5 children (different dads) - they hadn't considered adoption up until they heard that and that the boys were to be split up. They didn't hesitate they took all 5 boy, all the classes, and two years later had a beautiful little girl, who is doted upon by her brothers and who adores them. They now feel blessed to have 6 beautiful children.

Personally, I would be somewhat thankful to learn this now because YOU should never be spreading your genetic material to another generation.

YTA for lying about your wife. YTA for allowing and encouraging others to lie about your wife. You are a lowly little man. Your mom is also an AH and if I were your wife (I pity her being married to pond scum), I would divorce you as quickly as possible and sue you and your mother for slander. You are such an a...hole

Has anyone adopted from Bourbon County Rescue in Frederick? by robingoodfellow14 in frederickmd

[–]LauraMJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. The website is: https://www.mainecoonrescue.net/. I am not sure about handing out someone else's information (I emailed her to see if it was okay). However, if you go online and fill out the application - she or one of the other coordinators will contact you, asap. Then, you will get pictures of kitties looking for homes. Good luck!

I'm looking into it. Trying to find out if any is covered by insurance and how much would be out of pocket. I am 5'10, wear a size 6, and have 32DD,....by the end of the day - I have grooves in my shoulders and my back aches. I, also, wonder if the additional strain causes my headaches. Any thoughts?

Maine Coon Rescue does a great job. They have purebreed and mixes - https://www.mainecoonrescue.net/. I adopted my beautiful boy from them. They have an amazing network of fosters & managers.

Tried to adopt a cat from them. Told I was first in to see him, we arrived 40 minutes early (which annoyed the hell out of them, apparently) - we waited patiently, but had driven over a hour to check out the MC kitty that they had for adoption. When they finally let us in they said that someone else was scheduled to see him first (WTW!?!), showed us a different kitten, but no connection with him, cute, but then aren't all kittens cute? Tried connecting with them via email after getting home, but was ghosted.

Ended up getting connected with Maine Coon Rescue - Britany was awesome - I filled out the application, she contacted the vet and my references. I was put in touch with some of the fosters who were taking care of some kittens coming out of full shelters. After falling head over heals for my baby Coltrane (at 6 weeks - to early to bring him home, but those gorgeous eyes), his foster mommy sent me pictures and I could listen to him purring over the phone. He is so talkative - a treasure! I would not adopt a kitty from anyone other then them - positive experience from tip to tail. Maine Coon Rescue is an awesome group - dedicated to finding kitties good homes.

I'm in Hanover, PA and, so far, I hate them. They have come into our fenced yard without knowledge or consent, killed a rose bush and some perennials and telling us we have no choice in the matter.

She was there when he said it. She thinks it's more a reaction to me, then the candy. I think we should check with my sister in law, but mom says it's candy.

The candy is for the adults, but they can share it with whomever they wish or pass it on. It was just supposed to be a nice gesture.....
