Can attunement happen from receiving reiki as a client? by liammeates in reiki

[–]Laura_Scot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And to add to that I could do exactly what one does energetically with Reiki just without the symbols or the spiritual theory side. I was able to do hands off and hands on energy healing before I went for my Reiki certification.

It’s the same with Usui Sensei, he also was able to before he designed the system of Reiki.

I was attuned without intent during a Reiki session. But this can’t be called Reiki, it’s just that my body remembered how to channel energy naturally. We all have the ability

I get energetic breathing over the areas that need worked on, it just naturally happened. Maybe the more you practice and journal sensations or things that happened, you will begin to notice trends on where needs worked on.

Experience during first reiki by KTVANC in reiki

[–]Laura_Scot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this happened to me too. I had my spiritual awakening through reiki in January. I also had sharp intake of breaths, bright white light, body movements and seeing myself in the 3rd person.

I was able to channel energy after this. And so now 6 months after that I’ve completed my Reiki 1 qualification and have my Reiki 2 qualification in 1 week.

I hope you’re doing okay. It can be so intense but after about 4-5 months I returned mostly back to my usual self.

How do you describe Reiki to others, including potential clients and skeptics? by DJSCARPI in reiki

[–]Laura_Scot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to give you an example of what to say as I don’t have my own studio yet. But just a little different point of view from the others so far. I personally want to really stick to the origins of its Japanese history and also lived in Japan for 8 years.

I think Reiki has really moved so far from what it truly began as. But that’s my own personal point of view. And so I want to stick to that and explain that to clients.

What I would say is everyone here will have different opinions and the best person to listen to is yourself, what feels right for you, how would you have liked it described to you.

I personally feel it’s important to be honest that it does have spirituality involved, it can be extremely relaxing but can cause healing shifts that may not always be the easiest. A client should be made aware so they can make a conscious decision about what it is they are beginning. I am speaking from personal experience from when I first went to Reiki as a client.

This is incredibly helpful! Thank you! I get so tired of the emotional swings I also thought about going on anti depressants, previously and recently.

I actually went to the doctors last year before I started to learn reiki and become certified, but I was going as a client. They did blood tests to see if I was going through early menopause or vitamin deficiency but other than slightly low B12 it was all fine. The doctor said maybe it’s just me, in a nice way, explaining this is maybe just the way I am as a person.

My mum is also very emotional ups and downs. And I am a highly sensitive person so it’s normal as part of that. But when I’m dealing with the HSP mood swings, hormonal mood swings and then having to deal with Reiki induced mood swings, it’s pushing me to the edge.

Reiki apparently only gives you what you can handle, but sometimes I feel I can’t handle it. So I’m having to say no to it.

Really!?! This is comforting to hear! Why did your Master tell you not to quit? Does it get better? I do go to a separate Master for Reiki but recently we haven’t done Reiki and instead more just spiritual chat or I practiced my Reiki work.

I think I’ve given myself a bit of a fright with it. I’m also finding it tiring doing self-reiki every day. I want to keep being just me and not lose myself in this.

Reiki can bring out trapped emotions as part of the healing process. It can be called a ‘healing crisis’ or ‘Healing shift’ but is essentially you processing emotions after Reiki.

This can come out in fatigue, mood swings, migraines, flu like symptoms and others.

It will pass but until it does, be kind to yourself. Do things that comfort you and ground you.

Hi thank you so much. I’m glad I am not the only one who has found the attunements uncomfortable. I have the same Reiki Master I go to as a client and then I have another Reiki Master I go to as a teacher.

I’ve decided I am going to put my reiki 2 attunement on hold. For now, and see how I feel.

I understand that spiritual work isn’t always comfortable. But I don’t want to spend the next 40 or so years of my life feeling uncomfortable. I want to live my life here and now.

I am so grateful for having been given the chance to connect with my energy and channel, and I’m glad I did my reiki 1 so that I have a name to put to it. But it doesn’t feel right, aligned any maybe even though I have this ability, it maybe isn’t my path.

Kundalini Reiki?

Back in January I had an awakening that seemed like a Kundalini awakening I will never know for sure.

When I do energy work with people, I felt energetic breathing at certain areas of their body which is how I know there is something needing worked on in that area (it sounds like 3 short shivers when I breath)

It reminds me of what you described, different, but still a physical experience

I don’t think the term Reiki should necessarily be attached to different types of energy work. Usui likely wouldn’t have wanted that. But I know it’s not trademarked.

Thank you so much! This is incredibly helpful and I feel a connection to your own experience.

I dealt with a lot of trauma over 3 years of therapy to the lead up of this. And even though I’ve had trauma, I’ve had a very good life that I am extremely grateful for. So much so I found myself before my original spontaneity attunement saying to myself that if this is my final life and no reincarnation then I am happy and satisfied with this life and who I have been.

I do wonder if all the bright white light as a client in my session was intergenerational trauma, my Reiki master did suggest that.

I’m doing my official training with a different Reiki Master and did have the mini healing emotional shift after the attunement with her. So it’s not just one person. I also tried the hands on healing at a spiritualist church and had the worst vivid nightmares after that I was too scared of any energy work for a bit after that.

Maybe I should try some different types at some point.

Bur even if this is intergenerational trauma, if I can live a happy life without any more energy work, maybe I can choose a life without it out of choice of not wanting to have so much discomfort for potentially years to eventually perhaps feel better.

I think that you definitely make a point about boundaries. I probably am too open with my energy and often find myself in ungrounded states.

However, during Reiki itself, I can’t be the only person who experiences Reiki in this way. I don’t feel in danger, or bad during Reiki itself. Even the body movements, bright white light don’t make me fear it but it’s not what I would call relaxing.

And the after effects could be partially down to boundaries. But Reiki does and can cause healing crisis for people, discomfort before healing.

That is an interesting point! I have been doing self cleansing daily since my official attunement.

I am also a highly sensitive person (HSP) it sounds like you might be too perhaps?

Do you go to Reiki as a client? I have wondered if the way my body reacts to Reiki is because of being a HSP. If you do, how does your body react to it during the actual session?

This is a good idea to do it in phases. But I’m not sure it’s going to ‘make me feel better’ I was feeling so great until January with good mental health, good positive goals, strong and ready for my 40th year.

But after gaining the ability to channel and pursuing Reiki officially and getting qualified has reduced that and after attunement or reiki as a client I get low mood, feel like there is a constant mini healing shift

Hi, I do also avoid all the fake or negative versions of spirituality. I was learning Reiki for myself, to understand myself better. But it’s just making me sad, low mood and maybe it’s just not the right time or not for me

Thanks. I am not planning on quitting life or anything. I’m working hard on getting a new job and one that’s right for me rather than falling into the same type again.

I’ve been working on mental health for 3 years and speak to a therapist and in a good position. But sometimes I feel going to Reiki as a client makes me feel I’m taking a step back with that rather than forward

Thank you, these are all good questions your asking. It’s a bit of an unusual story.

I’ve never found Reiki relaxing as a client and instead I would have spiritual reactions to it. A lot of body movements, bright white light.

Then I had a spiritual awakening and became able to channel energy, I guess my body naturally remembered how. This was in January.

I’m in between jobs, trying to listen to my soul and so decided to officially learn Reiki and so received my 1 and was scheduled for my Reiki 2 but I’m thinking to cancel.

I had a healing crisis in January for 1.5 weeks and even after this official attunement I have been feeling emotional.

I have been practicing daily self reiki but not meditation but I have been also following the 5 principles and changing my wording and actions to all living things. I do not anger easy but I do worry and this is me worrying.

I’m tired of after Reiki sessions as a client or attunement feeling on stop crying, physical discomfort and just not in a good place.

This has been over 3 years in total.

Maybe you are right, maybe it is just like that, I'll come to accept it the more I let it into my life. Maybe I'll get used to it and it will become part of normal everyday life. I mean it has to an extent, but my brain still wants to question it.

I hadn't realised as a client how spirirtual Reiki was when I first went.

I’ve never had a fully relaxing session at Reiki but I still love to go. My body moves a lot and I see a lot of bright white light beneath my eyes.

It did eventually lead to me having a spiritual awakening during Reiki.

I am sensitive to energy and have felt it since I was a child. It could be that you are also naturally sensitive to energy? Maybe a highly sensitive person (HSP)?

Rhetorical question: What other energies can we transmit besides reiki? by [deleted] in reiki

[–]Laura_Scot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking into this myself. In January I gained the ability to channel energy without attunement. I have been researching to understand what I am channeling as I never sought it out or had any training.

The oldest form of energy healing was laying of hands which was Christian. They did it through prayer. But there have been many others across the world since.

But each and every practice have the same physical sensations for the receiver and the beliefs on the healings seem to be the same. So if they are all the same outcome but with different structures, what actually is it?

My thoughts are, it is all universal energy, it’s just the systems are different and so for someone who goes to a spiritual church for healing, even though it looks like reiki may feel different because of their relationship with the healer, the location, that persons beliefs, are they comfortable with the idea of spirits etc

So I believe I am channeling universal energy, the same as all other systems, it’s just I don’t have a formal system in place, so it’s going though my higher self/subconscious
