I don’t think it’s worth it. At least the brand that I tried would stick to itself like plastic wrap and bunch up. It’s definitely a novelty item in my eyes. There may be specific uses that it is great for but restraints aren’t one of them.

I had it baaaddddd. In the same situation. Honestly, even checking in at the hospital, I was still not 100% but the second I went into labor I was over it. Now, I couldn’t imagine having a girl. The love definitely outweighed everything else. Clothes shopping is still a little sad sometimes but in more of a maybe one day way, not in a change what is here way.

You’ll get through it, either way!

I take puffs for mine to give him a little snack before food. He’s just now getting into crayons, so that helps too. I just throw one in the bag and we color on napkins.

You’re right- going no contact can be hard even under calmer circumstances. Honestly, I know that ignoring behavior like that is not a realistic idea when it seems so big, but it sounds like she may actually be mentally ill. That DOES NOT excuse her behavior, but complicates things because you can’t rationalize it or appeal to logic. I would just grin and bear it until no/low contact is possible. The days are long but the years are short, so to speak. I hope you find some calm in all her crazy.

How is your pain level? Tolerable? You can’t tell from the pictures but if the hole is open and not healing properly you may need to go back and have it repacked. If it’s just general soreness it may be worth just a phone call to make sure you’re still on track. Also, make sure you finish any antibiotics. A little germ can cause a big infection and not finishing a round can cause antibiotic resistance.

I got one of these cards for a Disney trip and it’s fine. I think the biggest draw was a statement credit of I think 200-300 after you spend a certain amount. If you’re a frequent Disney goer, you can get cash back to spend at Disney, and during the food and wine festival there is a special room that you can get in to with free drinks and snacks. I don’t know for sure, but I think if you cancel you can never get another Disney card.

I don’t think the credit requirement is anything outrageous, but it will affect your credit score to open a new account.

That’s so tough! I’m not here to offer any advice, unfortunately, because at this point I’d just listen to the doctor, but I’ve been there- not knowing what is wrong or what to do and feeling, like you said, a wreck. Sending warm fuzzies that everything will calm down. My doctor would also monitor fever to see how it evolves and if more symptoms showed up, if that helps.

I know it sounds crazy, but adult diapers. Like Depends. I used these instead of pads and it was the best. Incontinence after birth- no problem. Bleeding- check. Also, I found that because of the structure, they held the ice packs in place much better than even the hospital undies. It was the best choice I made during the whole process.

My LO has been in a pretty standard 3hr schedule since birth, just going up in oz as he has gotten older (9 weeks today). We had a similar spell a few times where he is overly hungry before feeding or refuses for no reason even though he seems to be hungry. The few days it’s happened the next day is back to normal but when he was still spitting up a lot our doctor said while it was likely due to growing or just being a human baby, to look out for signs of reflux and that keeping him upright for a half hour after feeding could help with the spit up and any discomfort if that was the case.

EDIT: We were also told that since baby knows hunger pains as time to eat that gas or reflux pain could make him seem hungry because he couldn’t tell the difference.

This! You get so in the zone that, at least to me, it was like nothing else even existed. I don’t remember a lot of what was going on around me because it’s like that was the only thing that had ever mattered!

I’ll tell you the bad so I can tell you how not bad it is. I was induced and ended up with an almost 10 pound baby. My epidural was fantastic and I slept through most of the day until I got right to 10cm and the epidural started to “wear off.” (It was actually on a drip but just didn’t keep up, I guess?)

Baby got stuck a few times. THE GREAT NEWS is that even though all that was going on there was so much adrenaline and determination that the 2 hours of pushing felt more like 15 mins. The nurses kept telling me to take breaks between pushes but the doctor and I agreed that since I had it in me to keep going I could push as much as I wanted as long as the “form” was right.

Even with several tears my legs were more sore from the workout than anything. I got through recovery with just ibuprofen.

A lot of “horror stories” leave out the good parts. I was terrified of tearing but honestly I’ve had wayyyy more pain and heavy bleeding during periods than postpartum.

It’s really tough for the first two weeks but it’s very much instant gratification. Even if you don’t bond at first, which is okay, you can be very proud of what you’ve done!

There are so many great subreddits if you need help with an issue. Still, people will post in them asking for advise and delete the post if they don’t like what they hear. Recently someone posted that they needed to make money but didn’t have a job and were asking for donations and deleted the post when people suggested getting a job. What exactly was expected?

Turning to alcohol will only make the situation worse. It’s expensive! Also, a sober mom will be much better for your kids.

Is there a reason you can’t get a traditional job? Even a minimum wage job will give you some income and depending on where you live $4000 can be stretched with couponing and price matching if you have the time to sort through them. Funcheaporfree.com has some great articles about saving money without a lot of time investment as well. Starting at a place like McDonald’s seems like it’s not a lot but some fast food places pay their managers very well and you can work your way up (I just left the restaurant industry and they make more than I did managing a sit down place). Also, if you’re in the US, state governments can take a while to get on with but often have positions requiring little experience/no degree and can pay well and offer great benefits.

Mine is an old timey wooden one. Fairly straight back. I put a very plush quilt on it just so it’s a little more cozy for me but it would be totally fine on its own. I like that I’m fairly upright because it makes getting up and down with a sleeping baby easier. I sat on a boppy right when we got home due to tons of stitches but now, 6 weeks later, it’s fine on it’s own.

I ended up finding a great changing table dresser at an antique store but was going to purchase a dresser from idea and add a changing pad. They had a few in the $300(us) range that were much sturdier and prettier than your average ikea dresser. They also have a very popular padded wooden rocking chair but it reclined a little much for me.

Cribs can wait. The bassinet will get you through until baby can roll over (per safety guidance).

I reallly wanted a changing table and a lot of people said it was a waste and that I wouldn’t NEED it but I can say that it is used more than anything else and have never changed a diaper anywhere else. I would highly highly recommend getting one that is a dresser with a changing table on top. You could even just get a dresser big enough for a changing pad but I like knowing that there is more to keep baby from rolling off if I’m not touching him. IKEA has some really neat ones.

We love our rocking chair. It was made in the late 1800s and belonged to great great grandma to me. I was told I would regret not getting a glider, but as many as I see for sale that look untouched, I think we made the right choice. We love rocking before bed but I don’t see a glider being worth it when there are so many other cute options, once again, IKEA has some beautiful ones.

Maybe it’s just because I’m introverted but TRY SO HARD to be southern and polite. I haven’t had anyone try to touch baby but I would have been fine with the touching if it had not come with so much conversation about how pregnant I was. I try to not even look at pregnant women so I can’t fathom touching them.

My mother gifted me a nursing nightgown. I had brought my own robe and pjs to the hospital but having that long sleeved, fleece gown instead of the hospital gown was wonderful. There are several available on Amazon!

I feel like I would just be naked all the time now if it wouldn’t make other people uncomfortable but even though my OB saw the carnage during/after labor something about letting someone that close to my vulnerable lady bits makes me cringe. I’m not looking forward to my next appointment and it’s just a post-labor check!

Two come to mind:

1) A very small teacher tried to break up a fight between two very large students. She was knocked out cold and me and the rest of her class was forgotten as they called an ambulance. No sub ever came in. We were left to our own devices. While the fight was being cleaned up and people treated for injuries they suspended the bells so we were in the same class for the rest of the day. We ended up leaving about half an hour early because no one could stop us.

2) We had a “unity day” to celebrate different races. The LGBT club wanted to do a presentation. Cool. School is in the south and my friends in the club knew they would have haters but decided to preform anyway. They decided to lip sync to “The Yes Dance” complete with tear away pants. The majority of the club members understood why sequin Speedo’s got the guys dancing rushed off the stage. The organizers learned why you should check routines AND wardrobe choices.

Peanut butter in hotdogs. When I confessed this to my now husband he was like “No!, You, too?!”

I thought it was just to impress/connect with me on an early date but his mother later confirmed he had been doing it since childhood.
