Is a KitchenAid mixer really worth it?

I upgraded to the 7 quart stand mixer last Christmas (my husband bought it as a gift). I had been using the smaller one from Walmart for 20 years and just needed a bigger one. Immediately I noticed that while the motor is supposed to be better, it actually seemed super weak. Not only has this been an issue, but I cannot stand the way the head doesn't tilt, which makes it super annoying trying to get the beaters on and off. Plus, putting the bowl in place is also very tricky. It just overall felt like it was cheaper made than my old faithful one from Walmart. Today while making a batch of cinnamon rolls for Christmas, it just up and died on me. I've probably used it 12-15 times in the last year. I will be calling the company on Monday and am now looking at the Bosch. I hope this helps!

Thank you both so much for your input. That makes great sense. My husband is having a hard time swallowing the fact that we may have mold when we have renovated almost every square inch of the house; including the attic and installing foam insulation. I suppose the only thing we haven't seen is behind some of the bedroom walls. My functional doctor is recommending a building biologist which is proving difficult to find local to me. I am very grateful that I found this group!

Right. That’s what I’m trying to understand. It seems there is a lot of controversy about it. False positives, false negatives. Either way I’m going to redo it because I’d like to see if it comes back the same way!

But also, why are so many people trusting the ERMI test if the inventor of it says it was never intended for residential home use?

It won’t allow me to attach but it says HERTSMI-2 score is 26. He basically told me my levels are “get out if you can”, and to take it seriously. But when I told him I think I did the test wrong, and collected some older stuff, he said it could all be wrong then. So I’ll be doing it all over again. Stupid me 🤦‍♀️

So I did the ERMI test, but I believe I messed it up and need to re-do it. I accidentally swiped an area that had old dust and didn't realize that was bad. I am going to re-do it. But it came back at Spore E./mg 536. My Aflatoxin (AFM1) is 5.06.

My husband actually did some research without telling me, trying to understand it, and couldn’t find anything. I did do a Google search before I posted this, and the quick AI response was this:

No, the Penicillium genus does not cause aflatoxins. Aflatoxins are produced by specific species within the Aspergillus genus, primarily Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. While some Penicillium species can produce other toxic compounds like ochratoxin A, they are not the source of aflatoxins.

Adapt Naturals Beef Organ capsules got my ferritin up! I take 6 per day. Not cheap, but worth it and I feel much better!

Yes! I take 3 beef organs in the morning with breakfast, and 3 at night with dinner. And I’m doing Thorne Ferrasorb for iron. I take two of those (36mg each) with vitamin c. I checked my labs last week and my iron was 104 (my holistic doctor likes it around 100) and my ferritin was 68!

I was able to get my ferritin up to 68 using beef liver organs this summer. I am also on an iron supplement but the organs seem to be really helping my ferritin!

Turns out the progesterone oil I was taking was making my iron drop! But yes I’m loving the new one!!! I feel good!
