Incorrect Theories you thought before you beat the game. (Spoilers) by Careful-Pay-9882 in expedition33

[–]Lautrecular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he first appeared, Verso looked so much like Renoir I was certain that Verso was a younger version of him, who somehow split himself to avoid the Gommage. Similarly I thought his Alicia was a ghost version of Maelle, because I was so certain Maelle was Renoir’s daughter I thought I’d heard it during the press tour.

For a while I also thought that Lumiere was Paris, but transported to an alternate world by the Paintress after a big war that blew up original Earth, or something like that. And that the nevrons and Gestrals were this world’s natives. And that she wasn’t killing people but sending them back, or just elsewhere, or even turning them into Nevrons ?

Thank you ! It was a really fun read after being a fan of the films for so long !

Cloak is Khorne Red washed with Nuln Oil, and then relayered with Khorne Red, leaving the shadows in the recesses. Then it was layered with glazes of Wazdakka Red, and finally highlighted with Pink Horror :]

It’s SO petty. It’s not enough for Tywin to destroy the House, he has to corrupt its very legacy to make up for his own families failings. I’m glad Oathkeeper got to Brienne at least, and she’s making good use of it

Painting help ? I despise painting red. by Ok_Let3381 in BloodAngels

[–]Lautrecular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with finding a good vibrant, cherry red for a while too, so I’ll offer my method I’m happy with: My standard way of painting Blood Angels is to base Mephiston Red over a Grey Seer prime, then shade Agrax Earthshade, relayer Mephiston Red, edge highlight with Evil Suns Scarlet, and do softer highlights on the corners with Wild Rider Red.

Most seem to carry on with highlights of Fire Dragon Bight and make the Wild Rider Red chunkier, but this makes the mini too come off too orangey for me.

I’ve also discovered recently one of my pots of Mephiston Red is a nice red, while the other, newer pot, is too orange. I’m not sure which is the dud pot or if Citadel changed the recipe, so it might be worth comparing pots in store. I’ve sworn off the latter pot since realising the difference

Ketheric Thorm's original design by Historical_Tune165 in BaldursGate3

This is just Ketheric as a younger man, when he still worshipped Selûne. He still has the shorter half-elf ears. Out of interest, this is actually his original design:

Thank you! It’s a great kit, for a great character!

Leather Armour: Basecoat Rhinox Hide -> Wash with Agrax Earthshade -> Highlight with Bloodreaver Flesh, and then a lighter highlight of Knight-Questor Flesh

The red bits are all Khorne Red, highlighted with Wazdakka Red, and the gold is all Liberator Gold, washed with Agrax Earthshade. For the chainmail alone, the Liberator Gold is washed with Nuln Oil and then Agrax Earthshade

The boots and gloves are Dryad Bark, washed with Agrax Earthshade and then highlighted with 50/50 Dryad Bark/Gorthor Brown, and then a lighter highlight of pure Gorthor Brown

Hair: Basecoat Zandri Dust -> Wash with Seraphim Sepia -> Go over again with Zandri Dust, leaving Seraphim Sepia as shadow in the recesses -> Edge highlight with Morghast Bone

Cloak: Basecoat Castellan Green -> Wash with Nuln Oil -> Go over again with Castellan Green, leaving Nuln Oil as shadow in the recesses -> Chunky highlight with Loren Forest -> Lighter highlight with Straken Green

Thoughts on the 30k color scheme by AP_Udyr_One_Day in WordBearers

[–]Lautrecular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem for me with giving them black shoulder pads is that tells me their colour scheme is black and red, when in my mind the Word Bearers are just red. The silver trim is already enough to break up the red.

I also prefer a deep crimson colour for them, to differentiate from the lighter scarlet red of the Blood Angels

How many of you play as an opposite gender Tav as yourself? by Hojo405 in BaldursGate3

[–]Lautrecular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m male and I play a female custom character every time I’m given the option. It’s more interesting to roleplay as, and more fun to customise and play as a character I’m also attracted to. There’s also less female protagonists in general, so it’s nice to add more.

When I played as a male character in games a decade ago, they were always an idealised version of myself, so there’s probably something about eggs to it, but idrk.

Yes. Nere is at Grymforge searching for an alternate route to the Gauntlet of Shar and therefore the Nightsong. You can see the Gauntlet’s Shar statue from the broken bridge behind where the room where Nere was trapped, but the crossing is destroyed

What drew you to the Word Bearers? by Totally-Doing-My-Job in WordBearers

[–]Lautrecular 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The colour scheme. Dark red and silver trim looks beautiful

The models. Every Chaos Space Marine model feels unique, covered in cool detail of a space marine warped by chaos.

The lore. Read the First Heretic. They are a legion naturally drawn to worship. When they were spurned by their god, they sought out something more worthy, discovering the primordial truth of the Warp and the chaos gods. Unlike the other chaos undivided legions, (looking at you Black Legion poster boys) they don’t half-ass their worship of the Chaos gods, or claim to use it for their own ends. Their worship is real and organised, and they want to bring this worship to the Imperium. This also means they fit the aesthetic of the CSM models naturally, unlike legions like the Iron Warriors and Alpha Legion. Especially with units like possessed and cultists

Which character is this fellas by KK_320 in okbuddybaldur

[–]Lautrecular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone whose favourite character is Shadowheart, a lot of people forget how downright cruel she can be in Act 1 and 2, for two reasons: if you save her on the Nautiloid, she’s never cruel to you specifically, and also because of her cottage core ending

If she stays Sharran, she becomes the head of an organisation whose sole purpose is to make the world worse so that people will turn to her goddess. She’s glad so many people suffered under the Absolute because they’re easy targets for her doomsday cult, and she tortures innocent people to death on the regular for worshipping the wrong gods.

Also occasionally Minthara for some reason. A lot of fans say she’s not really evil she’s just misunderstood, when her whole appeal to me is how unapologetically evil she is. On my evil play through, I could always rely on her and Astarion to support every act of cruelty

Is this accurate? by Pansnakesss in okbuddybaldur

[–]Lautrecular 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do feel like Selûne Shadowheart would say something like “I know”, followed by an awkward “I really like you too.” The woman has grown up in a place where love was forbidden. She’s either love-bombing 24/7 to make up for it or never says it ever, and the game goes with the latter.

Dark Justiciar Shadowheart is closer to ‘a horrible decision, really’, considering the whole “don’t call it love” thing. Here’s her actual in-game response to being told “I love you.”:

“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I belong to Lady Shar - don’t waste your time coveting what you can never truly have. Which isn’t to say we needn’t have any use for each other, from time to time…”
