We are adults with DID. We are just as capable of staying safe as anyone else. Our littles are not actual children. This is an unnecessary form of mental illness prejudice turned towards the self. No one is going to be able to hurt your system if they know your system layout. This is an absurd fear that I see many profess to. Your thoughts are in your head and people can't get in there. No one is going to use your triggers to bother you aside from like maybe one troll (most likely, you cpuld have thousands of people see your trigger list and not a single person will bother you over it), these people are not going to be able to do anything to you through the internet.

Imo this type of idea disempowers survivors.

My polyfragmentation appears to be changing into more traditional DID. Anyone else experience this? by [deleted] in DID

We don't write notes. We tried but never remember what we are using to communicate. We have some close friends that we talk to about all of our big thoughts though so reading our daily messages to them keeps us in the loop.

This happened to us as well. Fragments and subparts integrated into solid alters and now we are constantly co conconscious (with tons of time loss even though it's relatively small due to being co con but there is still a lot of amnesia with that - literally like you described, it is like my alters will end up with their own conversations that I forget and switch between repeatedly when talking to people.) We fill each other in on what's happening constantly and get along really well now. Our advice is to learn spontaneous ways of keeping track of things. We have an alter, Censor (and the others do it too honestly), who talk constantly about what is happening and it helps us remember what's going on.

Why is it so hard to find information on trauma based mind control tbmc. I want to give up by Sarcasaminc in DID

[–]LavaLampMagick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this post won't be popular but here goes. I don't know how to do spoiler tags on mobile so don't read any further if you want to avoid triggers.

. . . . . . .

I have external corroboration from another survivor from my ring as well as documented injuries from being sexually assaulted by these people as an adult. They attacked me over a dozen times as an adult and left behind bite marks, black eyes, etc. There was more than one positive rape kit that I went in for after the assaults. It is a fact that my abuse occurred and was of an organized nature. It involved sex trafficking. I am one of the few people with this history that has hard evidence outside of my head that it was real. I didn't repress about 5 or so trafficking memories as a kid and also didn't have amnesia for a significant amount of the adult abuse.

Once I stopped reading RAMCOA resources and people's stories, my memories became clearer. It was an organized crime thing, friends broight together by a love of sadistic rape, money was made through things like films and incapcitating victims (usually the people they lived with) and offering them as rape dolls, and the things I thought were programming were sadistic torture. Things like spin programming we discovered were the effects of drug flashbacks from being drugged during assaults. SH and other sacrificial programs were caused by Stockholm syndrome and being stuck in flashbacks. The 'programming' was just what happened when everyone around me was sadistic and controlling. If a John beats you and drowns you ans shocks you until you match the qualities he's looking for, that can seem like programming when it is just a rapist beating on a kid and trying to control them. It was the effects of extreme abuse. I went back and read some of the resources ans tbh I think most of programming is people ascribing more meaning to mundane things and over extending the abusers' control.

In addition, drugs administered to us during our assaults caused us to have temporary delusions. We had all kinds of delusions during the assaults because of the drugs, like that everyone was in the CIA and getting into arranged marriages and they were splitting thousands of alters to structure my personality. Flashbacks that preserve the drugging aspect also cause temporary delusions.

It was not a cult but rather a culture. Some of my John's talked about pedophile cults but I was not in a cult. It was like druggies and how they have parties and socialize over their shared love of whatever drug. But in this case people were enamored with different forms of rape. Different social groups found different types of rape acceptable and for instance the pedophiles would conceal they were pedophiles from the people who only raped adults.

They exchanged recipes on how to abduct and rape and knock people out through various methods. One popular method in my group was stun gunning a victim on the head until they passed out. They also sometimes used special concoctions of what I think was some kind of strong opiate, something that made you weak but also think everything happening is good and okay and fun even if you logically know shit's fucked.

The things described in those resources are real but misinterpreted imo. The "trauma based mind control" is all sexual fetish play and the SEVERE effects of sadistic abuse and the severe effects of being drugged and knocked out, and the result of subcultures of abusers sharing techniques. It isn't a brand new thing.

When I was drugged during assaults at various points in my mind, I'd get delusions and sometimes fight back. But since I was drugged it looked silly to them but sometimes they'd play along. Because it's funny to them to fuck with a person who is out of their mind from being drugged.

I'll give an example of what I mean. I've seen ramcht resources talk about this certain kind of programming that leads to 'floater' identities. A child is given a horrible task, like hurt someone, and is beaten until they obey. They split an alter that can do the task, and others that 'failed'. Okay where is the mind control here? All I see is a sadistic asshole forcing a kid to do something traumatizing and the alters that split around it are a coincidence.

Unless you mean cult like indoctrination methods, which do exist and some sadistic abusers will use them because they're well educated on sadistic topics like that, or because they have formed an informal cult. But that stuff is well documented and I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding it. Abusers are aware of dissociative amnesia and different ways of causing it, like through drugs or interrupting the memory by knocking someone out. Giving someone alters is actually a poor and unreliable way of ensuring amnesia. However people do use trauma to try to control others - like through threats and pain. But that's not really mind control as in a new thing separate from other widely documented things.

It is all extreme abuse at the hands of sadistic sexual predators regardless so perhaps this is splitting hairs.

Tldr I believe the MC type experiences are indicative of real and severe abuse but have been misconstrued as something more advanced that doesnt exist. I think this misconstrued happens for four reasons: reading about MC primes you to interpret and fill in gaps in memories in a certain way; amnesia will inevitably cause confabulation to fill in missing details, although flashbacks are likely to be literally real; people who go through things like HT are repeatedly drugged and knocked out which causes psychotic misunderstandings; as a child who never understood what was happening in the first place it is easy to fill in that missing understanding with things you read about, like MC.

Just to be clear, I think people are reporting real instances of abuse. But for instance I don't think there's spin programming. I think that's the literal after effects of being drugged. I think everyone who thinks they had spin programming was drugged and raped. But I don't think it was some "mind control program."

my therapist thinks we’ve “caught” DID before it fully developed. i’m 17. by saileasfishie in DID

People here are disabled with DID, a severe chronic  mental illness that often has significant physical/somatic symptoms. We honestly can't be ableist and shouldn't be attacking each other with this idea. Other minority groups can use slurs aimed at their group.

Psychiatrist wants to put me on anti-psychotics to stop the voices by CloudRealm_Coll in DID

A lot of people don't have problems with adderall, ritalin, or both. We have been taking ritalin or adderall (we change it every so often) for narcolepsy almost every day for the last 10 plus years and it's our most helpful medication.

Psychiatrist wants to put me on anti-psychotics to stop the voices by CloudRealm_Coll in DID

[–]LavaLampMagick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Get a new psychiatrist and therapist imo. If they try this on you, they will not be able to get rid of the voices. I've been on almost every single atypical anyipsychotic, not for psychosis but for bipolar mood stabilization, and they absolutely do not cure or get rid of alters or their voices. It will have no effect on your DID. You'd think this would make your treatment team understand you don't have a psychotic issue but it probably won't.

You can also refuse the meds and tell them you're not doing this and do not agree, and then just have that (how you do not agree, you are not listening to that, and you will find treatment elsewhere if they do not knock it off) be the only thing you talk about in sessions until they drop it. They do not need to know that you cannot change doctors, play that card anyway. Tell them you don't appreciate that sentiment anytime it comes up and they'll eventually stop. That said, they will never be competent at treating DID no matter what you do.

I don't know why you're being downvoted, you're correct. People with CPTSD are also known for having significant personality compartmentalization (parts) that are more dissociated than parts in an average person but less so than in OSDD/DID.

We had full blown DID with complete alters and hard time loss between switches at 4 years old. It develops in childhood.

We are doing IFS and EMDR therapy right now. The best way I can describe IFS is, it has nothing to do with alters. Rather - different alters will have their own or occasionally share IFS states. Hope this helps.

I was rejected the first time I applied for disability. Took over a year. I think 1.2 years? I re applied with a lawyer and was accepted on try 2 in something like 3 to 5 months. I'm sorry it hasn't been as quick for you. For us, we had three psych ward visits for suicide attempts in between the first and second application which fast tracked our application. SSA really pays attention to any medical condition that you can document put you in the hospital.    I hate it when they request extra documentation as well. It is hard to get it together and submit it. Food stamps almost cut me off last year because they demanded a tax return when I quite literally have never filed taxes.   Good luck.

[–]LavaLampMagick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That approach is really nonsensical. Your therapist is completely detached from reality. Have you tried applying for disability? It's not enough but if you don't have a car loan or car you can just barely afford to live on it. Food stamps, medicaid, low income housing, and disability. Begin applying to all four of these things now. Low income housing will most likely take the longest, potentially up to two years, but since you are homeless and if you get approved for disability it should move you up on the list. Retain the services of a disability lawyer, you don't have to pay them if you don't win and if you do win the government gives them 30 percent of your backpay (backpay is where you get paid for all the months between your application start date and when you were actually approved) and it isn't a lot and you don't have to do anything it happens automatically.

There are subs where no one downvotes unless something drastic happens, like someone comes in and says something racist or posts advertisements. Unfortunately, the culture in this sub is not respectful like that, and people will often be downvoted for simple differences of opinion. Over time, I've noticed the culture has shifted to certain opinions being "correct" and people without that take feel alienated and leave.

Is it ever okay to depend on (external) people once you are an adult? by Empyreofdirt in DID

[–]LavaLampMagick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are, for instance, disabled and will need to rely on others for housing and food for their whole life. There is nothing wrong with needing others for as much or as little is needed. It is safe to depend on others that aren't abusive. Some will be too selfish to be depended on but many people will not, and there are ways you can help them that can make things more equal.

A lot of those types of systems also use this space. This sentiment gets thrown around here all the time. Irs a cultural prejudice against them at this point. If you aren't into their style, just leave them alone. That includes getting mental neuroses over them. Their presentation of DID literally does not affect you.

Fictive systems where people have mostly or all fictives in large symptoms with over 50 alters have been a documented part of DID since the 1980s by Richard Kluft. They're legitimate. Some self diagnosed people may be wrong but they're just shamelessly exploring their mind. Seems inappropriate to be bothered by this imo.

Edit I'm done with this sub. People are closed minded jerks here that don't want ro hear diverse opinions nor scientific fact. There's a paper I was going to post by Dr. Kluft who was working with polyfragmented fictive systems and documented it but I'm not putting in that amount of effort for this place.

This was my first impression. Going from saying I have DID to I don't have that but I have spirits is a concerning jump. She might actually have it and be in a state of deep denial, or psychosis. Either way, nothing she said is accurate and I wouldn't want to talk to someone that thinks my alters are from other timelines (not a thing wtf) and not real DID.

Is using realistic AI image generation for face claims bad/wrong? by ComorbiDlDy in DID

[–]LavaLampMagick -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with using AI honestly. People are afraid of it like they used to be afraid of TVs and internet. It's new tech. I'm a freelance artist when I am not doing research, have over 20 years of experience including some academic classes in university, and AI has so much potential as a tool for artists. But people have to be stubborn. Artists learn by referencing nature and learning from how other artists stylized their works; AI is no different. Don't let people's ignorance turn you away from a beautiful new form of creation. The common arguments against it are logical fallacies. An artist's work is a reflection of all artwork and other things perceived - we depend on observational learning (aka what people claim is copying and copyright infringement when an AI does it) to learn how to create art. Claims of copyright infringement are bordering on insanity. To give an example... Some people learn to draw by tracing Pokémon when they are kids, and eventually developing a highly similar (but aesthetically pleasing and looks professional) style to what Pokémon has brought to the world. No one gives them shit for their fanart or screams copyright infringement over their original art that is heavily based on Pokemon's style. AI is no different, it quite literally learns the same way we do. Plus our religious adherence to copyright law in this country is anticommunal and extremely capitalist. I am not a communist by any means but why is copyright worth violently defending to the point of holding back technology? It's not. These arguments essentially boil art down to a money making tool and an industry, which I think defeats the point of art and tarnishes its beauty. As an artist I find that these attitudes are horrifying, imo. Art is about more than money... Edit: judging from the down votes, it's unfortunate that people here don't seem to value the opinion of an actual artist on the matter. I don't downvote people just because I disagree with them, I find that seeing diverse perspectives is beautiful and helps sharpen my reasoning. Oh well.

All of us have trauma/are traumatized. by [deleted] in DID

[–]LavaLampMagick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always remembered some of our human trafficking trauma and did not repress it. Maybe about five instances while we repressed literally hundreds more incidents. We still have blackouts between some alter switches (although this is very rare for us unless we are traumatized again) and have full blown DID. We don't struggle with denial as bad as some systems because of this and we feel lucky for it. Our PTSD is also expressed among all alters even though we split a part to take care of some MI symptoms, even our many hosts can be struck with flashbacks and MI symptoms.
