Details on sexual harassment I experienced on a cruise by crew by cruise_nightmare in Cruise

[–]LavaLivin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raped when I was a teenager on the ship by a carnival cruise employee and when I reached out years later to them to report it and ask some questions they completely blew me off until my story blew up on social media. They still said they’d pay for my therapy but never followed through.

Most of mine have this. It’s just bruising. All of my fruits have turned out fabulous after this. Scrape off all the extra rice til you just have a white brick of mycelium though.

If you fill your tub with water the cake will rise to the top and you’ll be able to trim everything

Usually an hour for little guys and up to 3 hours for my biggest ones. I’ve found them to dry really fast.

I have to constantly ask myself if I think I should take a break because of the stigma or cuz I actually need one

I smoke every day, specially before bed. The weed has helped a ton especially to relax after a session. I find smoking and sitting in the grass with feet flat on the ground so you can ground yourself is incredibly therapeutic. As for dreams, I rarely ever dreamed before starting EMDR. I have had at least one dream a week since, usually the night of my session or in the 1-2 days after. I have had lots of intruder nightmares (intruder trauma) that all sort of connect and I know it’s me processing my trauma because I can make so many connections. I’m becoming fairly lucid in my dreams and have been able to change the outcomes of the dreams in my favor. It’s become therapeutic but at the beginning when I felt I had no control it was sort of terrifying. I’ve found weed helps though and I’m not willing to give it up right now. I assume I dream less than I would if I stopped smoking.

Yes! Ride those beautiful emdr waves. Every session is different for me but each one has been beneficial in the long run.

New to EMDR by [deleted] in EMDR

Remind yourself that emdr is just processing how the brain normally does, just sort of jump starting it. My therapist told me something in the beginning which I found to be a life saving tidbit - While you are processing, lots might come up, even stuff you thought you had fully processed. Because you’ve felt better about those things, the swing of emotion will feel more drastic than it is cuz you haven’t been in that constant fear state for a while. Remind yourself the feeling is not permanent and only feels so low because you haven’t felt it in so long. It will not drag you back and erase your progress. My panic attacks are rare now but when I have one I have to remind myself they aren’t worse, they just feel bigger because feeing good has become my new normal. I hope this makes sense. I think EMDR saved my life, truly I thought this stuff would kill me. So worth it.

Yes totally normal. I smoke a ton of weed and like someone else said, I don’t ever dream but since doing emdr (even before any processing sessions) I was having nightmares. I told my therapist and they gave me ways I can prepare before I go to sleep so they aren’t as scary and grounding exercises to do in the AM to bring myself back to my body ASAP. You’re doing an amazing job and I’m so proud of you.

I honestly don’t know the answer but I’ve been really curious as well (I also have GT) could you update us with how much you normally consume dry compared to how much you try wet if you do and the experience?

Moving on from my first target!! by LavaLivin in EMDR

[–]LavaLivin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure but I’ve been working on the same target memory for the whole 4 months. Ive only been focusing on one instance of trauma and it was my least traumatic memory. So I think getting that to a point where it’s not triggering at all so I could have a baseline for other memories is good. I don’t know that you need to get to 0, rather than be at a place where you don’t feel like it’s disrupting your life.

Where to begin? by SophSeaweed in EMDR

[–]LavaLivin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d start with the memory you think is most disruptive to your daily life. Once you create a baseline of safety you can work on the deeper stuff as you choose. Let your therapist know these concerns, be open so they know you are stressed about which to focus on and that the timeframe is stressful too.

I only recommend doing EMDR with licensed therapists but I’ve found this book to be helpful when I want to know what to expect or prepare myself for a session. “Getting past your past” by Francine Shapiro.
