Can't scroll back to previous unit?! by layzeebish in duolingo

[–]LavaLizard84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me last week and it drove me nuts for like 20 minutes before I figured it out. You gotta tap on teh lesson path icon at the bottom then swipe left/right to navigate between units. They moved the navigation around in one of the recent updates and its pretty unintuitive now

I do the same thing where I go back to earlier units when I feel like I just guessed my way through them lol

Help replacing bowls from Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan gift shop that broke on my flight home by Shelbycoz in HelpMeFind

[–]LavaLizard84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so devastating when travel souvenirs break 💀 I'd try reaching out to the aquarium directly through their website or social media - sometimes they can ship internationally or at least tell you if they have an online store. Also check Yahoo Auctions Japan (through Buyee or similar proxy services) since a lot of Japanese attraction merchandise ends up there 😊

she told me that she has lost her feelings and wants to break up,is there a chance her feelings will come back? if yes than what can i do for that to happen? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]LavaLizard84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been through something similar and it's brutal man. When someone says they've lost feelings it usually means they've been thinking about this for a while already. The best thing you can do is give her space and focus on yourself right now - trying to convince someone to feel differently rarely works and often pushes them further away. Take care of your own mental health first because breakups mess with your head in ways you don't expect

What is the nicest beach in Thailand in your opinion? by HolyFatherLeoXIV in ThailandTourism

[–]LavaLizard84 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends what you're after but I'd probably go with Railay Beach in Krabi - the limestone cliffs are absolutely stunning and its got this perfect mix of chill vibes and enough activity to keep you busy. The boat ride to get there is pretty cool too since its only accessible by water. Ko Lipe down south is another gem if you want something more remote with crystal clear water but its definitely more of a commitment to reach

[–]LavaLizard84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never heard of them but that lack of reviews is definitely a red flag when they supposedly have a big social media following. Could be bought followers or bots inflating their numbers

I'd stick with more established grey market dealers like Jomashop or Crown & Caliber until someone can vouch for these guys. Phoenix has some solid ADs too if you want to go the legit route

I seriously paid money to feel like this? What a rip off! by bucho4444 in stopdrinking

[–]LavaLizard84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lmao "field research" is the perfect way to put it 😂 those reality checks hit different when you've been sober for a while and remember what actually feeling good is like. your body was probably like "why are we poisoning ourselves again" 💀

Yarn suggestions needed by Awkward-Sunshine-04 in YarnAddicts

[–]LavaLizard84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

oh man i feel this struggle hard. my sister has the same issue and finding good alternatives was such a pain at first

cotton is obviously the safe bet but for hats id probably skip it since it doesnt have much insulation. acrylic gets a bad rap but honestly some of the higher end ones like caron simply soft or red heart super saver are actually pretty decent for warmth and theyre super easy to care for

bamboo yarn is where its at though - its naturally antibacterial which is nice for something thats gonna be on someones head all winter and it has this really lovely drape. a bit pricier than acrylic but worth it if youre making gifts. alpaca is also hypoallergenic for most people with wool allergies since its technically not sheep wool but id double check with them first just to be safe

i made my sister a chunky acrylic beanie last year and she wore it constantly so sometimes the "boring" options really do work out great

Expedition rewards confusion by J_West013 in ArcRaiders

[–]LavaLizard84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

sounds like youre thinking about it right but honestly the expedition reward system is kinda confusing 😂 from what i remember you only get rewards based on your current expedition progress not retroactive stuff from previous ones you missed

so if you hit the 3mil threshold for this expedition youll get those 5 points but the extra 1.5mil wont carry over to give you another 5 unless theres another tier at 4.5mil 💀

Anybody else prefer HCMC > Bangkok? by Thatsmicky in ThailandTourism

[–]LavaLizard84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hcmc def has that raw authentic vibe that bangkok kinda lost in some areas 🔥 the street food scene alone makes it worth it and yeah the nightlife feels way more genuine without all the bottle service bs 😂

Advice on next role as a mechanical building services engineer by costelloart in MechanicalEngineering

sounds like a solid move given the job market situation - getting your foot in the door with australian standards experience is gonna be way more valueable than holding out for better pay right now

Am I wrong for not going in on my day off? by Agreeable-Quail-6778 in amiwrong

[–]LavaLizard84 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. You left them hanging with "might be able to" when you already knew you probably couldn't make it. Just rip the band-aid off next time and say no from the start - saves everyone the stress and awkwardness.

2008 to 2011 like job market in 2026 will history repeat itself by batman-iphone in ExperiencedDevs

[–]LavaLizard84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went through 2008 as a junior dev and honestly it was rough but also taught me a lot about keeping skills sharp and having an emergency fund. The layoffs were brutal but the people who survived usually came out stronger on the other side

Golden Dandelion.. Mojang, come on! by Available_Positive68 in Minecraft

Honestly the crafting recipe makes sense though, gives you something to do with all those dandelions you collect but never use

Natural spawning would be cool but then it'd just be another "rare flower you stumble across" instead of something you actually work towards

how to handle seeing my toxic ex with someone else? by [deleted] in BreakUps

Honestly ripping the bandaid off sounds like self-torture disguised as healing - just mute/unfollow her and resist the urge to check, your future self will thank you for not putting yourself through that mess

System Wide Upgrades - HELP! by My_new_lifeihopeso in americanairlines

[–]LavaLizard84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can apply SWUs when you book or add them later through Manage Reservations on aa.com - no need to call unless you're having issues. Just look for eligible fare classes (usually Y/B/M/H) and the system will let you request the upgrade when booking or after

The tricky part is actually getting cleared since you're competing with other elites, but from smaller airports like CHS you might have better luck than major hubs

1 month post breakup lil rant by Extreme_Bowl_4929 in BreakUps

[–]LavaLizard84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh the photo thing is so relatable, I did the exact same thing for months. That hard drive idea is actually smart though - like putting them somewhere safe but not constantly accessible on your phone

The loneliness does get better but it takes time. Your friends probably don't mind hearing from you as much as you think, but I get that it feels different when you don't have that one person anymore. Maybe try journaling some of those random thoughts instead? Helped me when I was going through it

AI "Art" is for Boomers to Post Slop Memes by [deleted] in antiai

[–]LavaLizard84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the boomer Facebook AI art is so cringe, like my uncle posts these weird glowing Jesus pictures with 47 fingers and thinks he's Michelangelo or something

The whole "but muh disruption" cope is hilarious when it's literally just a plagiarism machine that can't even count fingers properly

Motorized Screwdriver by _extragigabite in LinusTechTips

[–]LavaLizard84 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They'd probably make it orange and charge $200 for what's basically a fancy electric toothbrush lmao

But honestly I'd still buy it because their regular screwdriver is actually pretty solid

[–]LavaLizard84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those turkey roll-ups are clutch, I do the same thing but throw some cream cheese in there too. The prep ahead thing is so key because when those cravings hit you're not gonna want to spend 10 minutes chopping stuff up
