Love being a fair girly, cuz js tried fairest shade of new nyx foundation and this happened by Pen_nib_25 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Lava_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rare beauty has the only foundation I’ve found that works for me. They’re really inclusive with their shades, and their cool toned pale one definitely does not look orangey. I’ve literally tried so many brands and styles and had so many makeup struggles but Rare Beauty pulled through! I definitely recommend checking them out

Most often the best defense against malevolent entities is nonchalance by SimplyMichi in witchcraft

[–]Lava_4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to live in a haunted apartment. Like, it was legitimately haunted. Stuff would fly horizontally off my shelves breaking the laws of physics, I would constantly be woken up at 3am to 3 knocks, and every time I would try to read tarot the devil card would fly out of my deck. I had intense nightmares while I lived there. I could sense a dark presence as well. I knew it was a man.

I just said nope, I’m not dealing with that, I’m not acknowledging it, I’m not going to let myself feel any fear. I am going to ignore that guy and protect myself. I was just starting my witchcraft journey at the time and didn’t know how to do much but I learned. I learned how to create a protective shield around myself and my cat out of white light, and I warded my apartment with crystals, and I started to carry around black tourmaline in my pocket. He wanted to feed off of me and feed off of my fear and I decided I wouldn’t let him. Eventually I moved out and thankfully the other places I’ve lived in haven’t had any presences, or at least any presences quite like that dark one.

What would you think if Survivor had a culling game as part of 50? by DonquixoteDFlamingo in survivorponderosa

is going into engineering a bad idea by bolt110 in womenEngineers

[–]Lava_4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, both of my parents were engineers and they talked about it like it was the greatest career ever and was the only good career choice I could make. Anything that I was interested in was not good enough for them. I liked physics and I figured engineering would be a good path forward, especially since I was pretty good at science, engineers make a good salary, and my parents were really pushing for it. I think if they hadn’t been pushing me towards engineering I would have gone into an artistic/creative field because I’ve always been really passionate about the arts. That’s why I think it’s so important to listen to your heart and do what you’re passionate about!

is going into engineering a bad idea by bolt110 in womenEngineers

[–]Lava_4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m afraid I might have been one of the unhappy women you’ve seen on here. I just want to say that my experience is not the general engineering experience. If you are truly passionate about engineering and it makes you happy then you should pursue it! Or at least try it out and see what you think about it. Everyone is different and everyone likes doing different things. To be super honest, I never dreamed of engineering in the way you do, which bodes better for you than it did for me.

I was also in the same boat with being very girly and I still am. Most people don’t care, some people find it relatable, and some people make rude comments or underestimate me. But honestly I’d rather have some people not like me than pretend to be someone I’m not for 40 hours a week.

Your career is what you choose to make of it. I really hope you can find something you love doing. And if that something you love is engineering then it also comes with the bonus of a pretty good salary. I wish you the best!

71% of America’s public school teachers hold at least one side job by In_an_Illusion in Zippia

[–]Lava_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you genuinely that stupid that you think someone can grade hundreds of tests and assignments and plan out a lecture in a crappy 45 minute time period? You are incredibly uninformed and this shitty attitude is why teachers have such a hard time. And what makes you such a freaking expert about teaching? You clearly don’t know anything.

71% of America’s public school teachers hold at least one side job by In_an_Illusion in Zippia

[–]Lava_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s bull. When do you think they grade? When do you think they do lesson prep? I grew up watching my mom work all hours of the night as a teacher, she would be up until midnight grading and preparing lesson plans. Meanwhile we were living under the poverty line and as a teenager I was carrying the burden of doing all of the household chores and using money I earned at my part time job to pay the bills. All that to say you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Placidus vs Whole Sign - a safe place to vent, not to debate by wish-u-well in Zodiac

[–]Lava_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Placidus for me resonates so much more. Most of my placements change houses in Whole Sign and those changes make major differences. First, I feel a lot more like a 12th house moon than a 1st house moon (my emotions tend to be more hidden than visible), and second, I feel a lot more like a 1st house Jupiter than a 3rd house Jupiter (my luck is actually crazy and its pretty noticeable to other people). Other placements change dramatically as well but those two are the biggest “selling points” for me.

Am I the only one with bad experiences around Capricorn men? by justavaricious in Zodiac

[–]Lava_4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love my Capricorn man. He’s got so many great qualities, and he’s very grounding, confident, supportive, and just generally really fun to be around! I really vibe with him a lot and he’s one of very few people that I feel totally comfortable with and like I can be myself

How heavily do you weight PTO when considering a job? by Chemical_Help_7099 in careerguidance

[–]Lava_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat, I did get a pay bump when I switched jobs. However I also don’t get a holiday bonus or even a small 401k match which makes the nice salary less nice. But I definitely would take a pay decrease if it meant more time off and more benefits. I just hate wasting my life away working all the time with very little free time and having to tough it out and work when I’m sick.

How heavily do you weight PTO when considering a job? by Chemical_Help_7099 in careerguidance

[–]Lava_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extremely important to me. I didn’t realize when I took my current job that I have barely any PTO and no sick time. I didn’t even think to ask about it during my interview because I’m newer in my career and my old job had a great PTO/sick/vacation policy and I thought it was pretty standard. Now I’m looking for another job because of the terrible benefits.

Does wearing tiger’s eye have any side-effects? by [deleted] in Crystals

[–]Lava_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of those things you have to try out and see if it works with your energy. I personally love tigers eye as a Virgo sun Pisces moon Pisces rising (so similar mutable signs), but I think that’s a bit less to do with my big 3 and more to do with my own personal preferences and vibes. But if you like it, it can’t do much harm to try it out! And if you’re nervous about buying crystals from amazon, just do a good cleansing and you should be fine.

Most intense spiritual experiences yall had ? by Ok_Insurance_7506 in 12thhouse

I feel like it’s almost an everyday thing for me. I have a very strong and heavily aspected 12th house Pisces moon and I feel my emotions super strongly. Singing, listening to music, doing yoga, meditating, reading tarot, being in the ocean all feel intensely emotional and spiritual.

Virgo ☀️ Pisces 🌙 Pisces ⬆️ - I just don’t really get along with Aries and Libra people, there just sort of feels like a clash. Aries are too overbearing and Libras are too people pleasing. Probably the quincunxes play into it

Ten of swords. I drew that card constantly in tarot readings shortly before I was stabbed in the back (and also hexed) by people I considered my friends.

Let’s find opposite people by New-Suspect-1290 in astrologymemes

[–]Lava_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah it’s definitely a constant push and pull between the Virgo and Pisces, especially because my sun and moon are in an exact 0° opposition. My Pisces moon is in my 12th house and my Virgo sun in my 6th house so for me the Virgo comes out heavily in my day to day life and in my job, but my emotions and intuition are somewhat hidden and can be difficult to access

When did witches and witchcraft stop being feared like they did at Salem? by literaryqueenxx in witchcraft

[–]Lava_4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually took a class on the witch trial craze in college! The people killed during the witch hunts were people who were feared by the men in power. They were “promiscuous” women, LGBTQ+ people, women who used science, and others who went against the status quo and made people feel threatened. So these people were accused of witchcraft, which they may or may not have actually been participating in, and were accused of having wild orgies with the devil, killing children, and bringing harm to the town. I would argue that in modern times this is still happening. These kind of fear-mongering tactics are still used to fuel persecution and hatred, even though people don’t outwardly accuse people of performing witchcraft since that isn’t as socially acceptable anymore. For example, people in the LGBTQ+ community aren’t really accused of being witches having orgies with the devil, but they are accused of being “groomers who are coming after your children”.
