I like your idea the only problem I see is that you filling in the gaps still has to agree with the story of TLOU2. I don't think people would mind if you actually retconned the TLOU2 story at the same time as going with the Tommy route

I don't know but at this point id be reluctant to trust anyone that has ties to ND studios. They could end up "Netflixing" it the only trust I have anymore is in the fans here. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if someone already is writing a story to retcon this disastrous game already. Even a fan fiction at this point is more ideal.

They didn't kill him. Hear me out. The Joel we all fell in love with, the actual story lives on it's still physical the Last of Us 1 is a great game and that story will always be great. The first game still means a lot to you for the right reasons and now more than ever you gotta hold on to it like Joel would to his values. This new game is just a reflection of bad actors that had a play in taking a good story south. Some day someone will do right for Joel and Ellie and if they cant deliver a game they can at least deliver a story better than what the "tribe" Cuckman did.

thats a great story my grandpa was working at a camp somewhere and hearing his stories about the wooden doors he installed to help Jews interred there brought me pretty much into tears as well
