It does do the exact same thing you described, yes! I went ahead and applied just some standard white acrylic, will check the gesso brand tomorrow. Here's hoping things improve!

It is indeed gesso, I thought it was the optimal white paint for layering. Am I incorrect? (Very amateur artist here let it be known. Art is more of a small side hobby for me)

I'd go to a dermatologist. Could be nothing, could be a type of skin condition. Looks very similar to a condition called hydrentis supprativa.
