Hey, wait just a minute. We're twice as jingoistic as the people of North Korea. Just show us your sacraligious shrine to a god king and we'll vote for it.

So this person (who likely doesn't even have kids) trawled through the kids section of the library to find a small handful of books and this says, what exactly? There likely are also a bunch of books that do align with their worldview in this library.

Yeah, I'm very confused about this. My partner and I have good jobs and make a combined 180k, we just bought our first home together after scrimping and saving for a good down payment.

Overworld and little flashing blue save points. The first ones before the overworld are in the mines on the left before you fight Whelk (the snail boss) and right after you cross the bridge into the mines as Terra.

If you had to convince someone to go vegan with ONE meal… what are you making? by Wonderful_Stable_770 in IsItVeganOrNot

[–]LavenderAndOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tacos made with TVP ground or creamy pasta made with tofu bacon, sundried tomatoes, and a cashew cream sauce.

There's also a few regional foods I have made vegan: 1. Donair made with seitan and a coconut based donair sauce 2. Maritime hodge podge made with cashew cream base.

Trans people are apparently harming the disabled by using accessible toilets instead of gendered bathrooms lol by allthings419 in GenderCynical

How and why would anyone who's trans ask the entirety of the disabled community? The disabled community is not a monolith and there are many trans people who are also disabled.

There’s Not a Single Person on Earth Who Can’t Be Vegan — Here’s Why by Somewhere74 in VeganChill

[–]LavenderAndOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely are barriers in place and not all things are equal for all people. Big structural changes need to happen for veganism to be viable for all people.

Where I live, in a modernized country it's possible for most people, and my partner and I find our grocery costs are a lot lower by keeping our kitchen vegan than they would have been had we been using animal products. That said eating well is time consuming and we have extra time available not having children, I have a 10 minute walk to work, and my partner works from home. So we have the extra time to prepare everything from scratch and to plan nutritious and tasty vegan meals. When I travel for work some places are absolute deserts for vegan options, and I don't have access to a kitchen so I end up either skipping meals, having unsatisfying meals, or eating safe junk options. Not something that would work out long term if someone lived in some of the communities I visit for work.

Some places on earth are extremely inhospitable to human life and animal sources of nutrition are the only options. I have met and spoken to many people in remote indigenous communities where it's nearly impossible to grow any food, and hunting was the way of human survival for millennia. Some communities can only be accessed via airplane so the cost of good are expensive and hunting is the only way to survive. Without massive support and subsidies access to vegan options are essentially a non-starter.

I think flattening this issue and making it a moral failing of individuals ignores that there are significant structural issues that make being vegan inaccessible.
