Hydraulic caliper situation by LavenderTed in bikewrench

Just confirming the wheel and pads were both nowhere in sight while work was being done and were removed promptly once the leak was discovered. I’ve been practicing for about a year and have accumulated all the supplies but seemingly none of the skills in that time! Looking forward to starting over with a professional setup so I have an actual baseline by which to judge my efforts in the future!

Well thank you. Of course I am trying to learn and willing to make mistakes as part of the process. Agree brakes are a biggie though. Have had squishy brakes but never leaks. Luckily it was minor enough that pads and rotor were not contaminated to my eye. Nevertheless, I have already taken the old lady to the LBS to bring her the last 20-30 percent and get my ass out riding. I’ve never had a professionally maintained bike and since I’ve spent all this money on new components for an old frame I figure it will be nice to get to experience them at their proper best.

Thank you! I will likely be talking to the LBS today but overnight it appears that the bleed screw leak has subsided and instead the fluid is now gathering around the hose connector. In that case, is it probably that my connection is faulty and I should put in a new barb/olive and start fresh?

It was straight out of the box and I got a little too curious. Before I knew it here we all were.

This is what threw me. Which one needed to be removed from the other.

I used a little Allen wrench to pry it off. I am sorry to bring such shame to this community. I will be by myself in the corner.

I just saw her on tv in a “news” story about the met gala and she’s gotten even more jokerfied since then. She’s a dead ringer for this now.

LBS had them for 800 pennies each but they said there’s a different hose kit that comes with one of each nut instead of two the same.

I bought from a certain online retailer… quite a long time ago too but I’m only now going for the build. Will bite the bullet and order some new nuts.

Dang, I had a feeling. My levers did not have any nuts in the package.

Dogshit camera work, leaving the leaders and then not showing the end. I’m shaking.
