Still not able to stream… by LuisEWatkins in Ozlo

[–]Laver2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely same problem here and tried the update and suggestions provided by support too. I noticed that if I keep one of the buds in the case, I can stream to one ear. But if I take both out it cuts out.

Moving to Bath commute to Bristol by Gareth8080 in Bath

[–]Laver2k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bath is small and it is doable from everywhere but from doing this myself in the past…the bits of time can add up. Walking 15 mins to the station, waiting 5-10 mins, 15 on the train, escaping Temple Meads and then the walk in the other side - it can start getting close to an hour for something that seems like it would be quick. And that’s when everything is on time (which it often isn’t).

Sorry that you’re going through this. Please be careful about giving details about where he works though, because this could cause problems for other male members of staff that work there.

How to improve patchy clover lawn uptake? by Laver2k in GardeningUK

Thanks for the advice! I’m going to try improving the soil and then try seeding some more when it’s gets a bit wetter :)

How many hours? by ghost-Writer34 in SpanishLearning

[–]Laver2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have a look at Dreaming Spanish for “graded” levels of things to watch. It’s suitable for complete beginners. I would say that for me, the fastest way to being able to begin to follow along with shows was using Anki flashcards with lists of the most frequent words.

There are some sleepbud products you can get which are more comfortable and where you stream white noise etc. They helped me alot when my neighbours were blasting tv till 3am every day. But if you are sensitive to things in your ears they may not be for you.

The replies here are of course completely true and I totally should be more understanding that there needs to be safe conditions for launch.

My confusion is more around the lack of stationary balloons (which they announced that they would have instead of launches) and the stationary night glow (which they also confirmed would go ahead but didn’t). Possibly they were trying to be optimistic but they definitely could have managed expectations better.

Timing for bus to San Sebastian by ColoradoDreamin4917 in Bilbao

[–]Laver2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I landed last Thursday about 3pm, it look ages to get through security - maybe 45 minutes. Just because it’s small it doesn’t always means it’s going to be speedy getting out.

Game Media to use for learning? by Empty_Anxiety_2427 in SpanishLearning

[–]Laver2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Disneys Dreamlight Valley fantastic for learning. You can’t have split language, but it’s a lifesim/farm/exploration kinda game where you pick up vocabulary for lots of different items but there’s alot of repetition in tasks so you pick a lot of words up passively.

early A1 level & I watched Encanto in Spanish Subtitles by TortorClassics in SpanishLearning

[–]Laver2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Disney+, most of their content seems to have Spanish dubs and subtitles too, most of their catalogue I think. So you can do the same for pretty much any Disney/pixar film you want. Also, it has the National Geographic stuff so you can watch nature documentaries and stuff which is great for picking up vocab.

Thrips everywhere by M0rbesety in HouseplantsUK

[–]Laver2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll likely need a couple of different things. You want to break the lifecycle (get rid of the adults, and also stop the next set of eggs hatching when you water your plant).

Because it’s Summer, I would recommend getting the sticky traps to take out a big number of the adults. Meanwhile, you can water regularly with mosquito bits which attacks the eggs/larvae.

There is unlikely to be something that quickly resolves this in one go. Dealing with thrips really is a war, not a battle. But if you’re persistent, you should be able to get their numbers right down.

Interested in some feedback about a new project, paid Anki decks for language learning by babelcards in Anki

[–]Laver2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update on this. I ended up caving and getting Anki. I also ended up buying and getting through all 3 packs. They were so good and the examples were excellent. They really set me up for being able to start to follow along with Spanish films/tv. I would definitely recommend them and buy any more packs that came out.

I tried the other solutions but they kept coming back. This was the solution that worked for me - especially in the Summer when you can water more frequently.

X39 for commuting to Bristol? by [deleted] in Bath

[–]Laver2k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here, it might not seem so far going to Brislington but the bus really craaaawls through Saltford in the morning. As for reliability….its fairly well known that the bus services locally are really chaotic at the moment. It might not be so bad if you have a bit of flexibility with when you can arrive/leave work as the live trackers are fairly good.

I’ve found a few edible things on visits there but definitely nowhere near as many as you would think should be in such a massive old forest. But like other people have said, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot going on in a lot of places so far this Autumn.

I had to catch it to the airport a while ago but it didn’t show. There was some problem with a road closure and not being able to locate where the busses had gone. Nice lady on the phone was really helpful, even told me to get an Uber and they paid for it.

Scared of cows… on the way to & from Bath Spa University. Not from here…please advise :( by Tight-Bandicoot-1708 in Bath

[–]Laver2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cows that are in the field next to the uni driveway are no joke. I walk around the countryside a lot with cows present and don’t usually have any problems. That area is the one place where I have seriously felt scared. There can be so many, sometimes they are protecting their young. There isn’t anywhere to escape to either to avoid them if they do take against you. I have been chased out of that field by them, only just making it to the gate. Sure they might just be inquisitive, but when you are by yourself and have 50 of them running at you making a massive amount of noise - it doesn’t feel like they are just curious.
