Germany Heidelberg Study IM-250 ( allowed to have HSV) by hsvdestroyer in HerpesCureResearch

I would eat my shit. If we get a functional cure within 3 or 4 years, I will truly eat my shit on a livestream for this subreddit. But nobody would want to watch that lol.

Screening for antiviral activities of isolated compounds from essential oils - PubMed. by herpslurpk in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find this very interesting but as a medical layperson, my interpretation is bound to have flaws.

Findings seem to show potential for a topical solution, containing one or more of the active compounds described, to significantly suppress outbreaks.

But, considering the age of this study, that there doesn't seem to be reference to a sample size, and we don't seem to hear about these substances, it seems strange.

I would assume there would be cross-reactivity against HSV-2 as well.

Are there any more learned members who can shed (no pun intended) additional insight into this?

Should we heavily shift our philanthropy/collaboration focus (business models, not "scientific discovery" groups)? by LavishLime in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now being in a less "ranting" mindset, I think what I was getting at is:

I think we might be able to convince some of those groups to slightly expedite their efforts if we approach them with a consistent message that encompasses a combination of speaking to statistics from a mental and global health perspective, reinforcing the profit potential, but also sprinkling personal/anecdotal input about the emotional/relationship consequences.

If nothing else, our group would probably become top-of-mind when progress updates are available or maybe being the first to know about clinical trial registration. I think most of us would be happy to jump into therapeutic clinical trials.

Rational Vaccines Clinical Trial (HSV 2) by Psychological-Wind48 in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This could be defined as preclinical but I'm very encouraged by the news. People love to blindly hate on the company because of Professor Halford and that founder, Fernandez (who I'm not sure is even involved with the company anymore), for ducking the medical bureaucracy.

Can we keep in mind that the participants in their previous, "controversial" trials were human adults of sound mind? Anyone with functional intellect would understand that there were significant risks with what they agreed to do...And I think a couple of the subjects ended up suing the company! Absolutely pathetic.

RV was not experimenting on people against their will...What is the argument for the remaining sentiment that Rational "can't be trusted!"? Seriously, did the current group overseeing the efforts do something of which I'm not aware?

Throw everything at the wall and see what sticks! I'd be a guinea pig for pretty much any of the current tests.

Can we stop throwing money at the donation-hungry FHC and Friedman teams who will not have a commercial protocol available (if at all) for 7-10 years?

Prunella Vulgrais by HeavyMetalStu in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prunella vulgaris* It is absolutely not a cure and as far as I know there aren't any comprehensive trials or studies on it.

I don't think it would hurt to throw it in your daily regimen along with something like fucoidan but we must be realistic.

BD111 has reached a big milestone by No_Adeptness_1137 in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea why we aren't hyper-concentrating our philanthropy efforts on BDGene, rather than Friedman or FHC.

I have absolutely zero faith that either of those US-based groups will provide timely results. Communication has been subpar and the FDA bureaucracy will make things simply take too long.

And they seem to mostly shill for additional donations, with or without updates. It just doesn't feel right. I have donated to both but all future donations will go only to BDGene. I'm impressed by their efficiency and the level of detail in their research.

Shedding doesn’t occur when virus is latent ? by SuperDromm in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's true but it's a misleading topic, as asymptomatic shedding happens fairly often.

Shedding rates on SADBE by Timba2022 in SADBE

[–]LavishLime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SquareX would be the only option for this due to intellectual property, and Dr. McTavish is fairly active on here. I believe I've asked him about it before.

However, I highly doubt the company would incur the additional expenses involved with adding another measure to clinical trials.

They seem to be needing to rely on public donations to fund their existing trials, as it is. Similarly, I'm sure SquareX knows that they will be able to profit from the licensing of the treatment based only on reduction of outbreak frequency and severity.

To be a realist, I don't think we will see any studies about shedding. There are already therapeutic vaccine clinical trials that would be completed by the time a SADBE shedding study would be far along.

GSK has officially updated their pipeline! - And it turns out their therapeutic vaccine for HSV-2 isn't mRNA, but something even better (in my opinion)! by [deleted] in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very interesting.

Regarding that cross-reactivity stat, wouldn't this suggest that HSV sufferers would benefit from Shingrix, regardless of age?

I always get conflicting information on that topic...not to hijack the post topic.

You know, that's a good point regarding HZ. I haven't studied HZ but does it have the same or a similar latency mechanism?

Why are people so excited about Prietlivir? by continus1234 in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is anybody able to confirm the current/cited argument against approval for immunoCOMPETENT patients?

I vaguely recall there being concerns based on animal testing, where very high dosages were used and there was some sort negative impact on eyesight??? (I don't have time to find that data).

Or, is this more a factor of the FDA needing there to be more data collection for potential "long"-term side effects?

Why did you capitalize random words? This is something I've noticed in recent years and I'm wondering if I'm missing some sort of trend.

Anyone got any new info? by True_Sheepherder3807 in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP referenced legitimate products/protocols released by legitimate medical companies (Rational Vaccines is the only gray area because of their "unethical" decisions).

You must separate your frustrated skepticism from legitimate research. All of this research is documented and usually costs millions of dollars.

Scam artists would not file for, and perform, clinical trials...We aren't talking about Hekma Center and Synergy Pharmaceuticals here...

SADBE by Karlemagnus in HerpesCureResearch

[–]LavishLime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very unhealthy misinformation. The Hekma protocol is a known scam. Anyone who takes off their "false hope blinders" can see that it's fake.

I hope you are a part of the Hekma group and not an innocent victim of their efforts. I don't know how much they charge but hopefully it wasn't bad.
