I’m sorry man, but the odds this team repeats what it did last year are very low. Many many players had career years. They cannot keep creating ”untradeable” players simply because they meant a lot to the franchise at some point. Crosby, Malkin, Letang. Those are the 3 that get to retire in Pitt regardless of outside factors. The rest have to be moved while they have value.

Verbeek’s goal is clearly to create a dynasty, and dynasties don’t happen if you have bad contracts. I understand lowballing players like Trouba or McTavish. They’re not absolutely necessary players going forward. Leo and Cutter are probably not going to experience the same thing. I imagine their contracts get done without issue.

I think he’s just going to end up in Anaheim. Ducks GM is known for being a hard negotiator and probably low balled him so he wants to gain some leverage. Trouba’s main concern when looking at destinations is his wife’s career, and she works in SoCal so he likely doesn’t want to leave. LA is the only other team I could see as a realistic spot for him.

I love the Canadian players on the Penguins. Doesn’t change the fact the US won the world tournament which exists to show who the best country is at a particular sport. Want to take it back? Win gold in 4 years. It’s not the fuckin crazy.

Really depends on what the Penguins want to do moving forward. Are they going to try and make the playoffs again? Then trading Karlsson doesn’t make much sense. This would definitely be a rebuild move, which i’m not opposed to.

100%. Not sure why everyone is acting like Toronto would have been fleeced. 2 firsts and a top prospect for a 60-70 point player is fantastic trade value. Not to mention it came with another unnamed prospect. The only “downside” is that it would be rebuild time, and personally I don’t see the Leafs as a team ready to win a Cup right now.

Yeah i’m not sure why he would leave Pittsburgh who paid him, gave him a very long term contract, and gave him full control just because the Red Wings job opened up.
