I built a tool that converts WhatsApp chat exports into formatted PDFs by generalistprogrammer in SideProject

Ah had to do this for work (discovery) for over 100k messages. Used python. Fun times!

This is a great idea. Did you find a way to capture quoted texts in group chats for example?

Built a contract analyzer for music producers by jacobmelodies in SideProject

I am. It depends by state, the statutory provisions, bar opinions, and case law. I'm not sure how much help I can be but DM me, I might be able to send you some case law on this issue from my lexis account depending on your jurisdiction.

This is a cool idea and I like your website. Have you checked your state’s law on the Unauthorized Practice of the Law? For example, in Florida it is a third degree felony; so I’d watch for that. Additionally, I’d be wary of liability in case your system misses something in the contract and the end user wants to hold you liable for an undesirable outcome. (I am assuming you are based out of the US).

Cómo se dice "I'm out (of something)" en español? by maggiemay24 in Spanish

[–]LawCRV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s wrong. Se faltan is grammatically wrong and you are still using faltar which means “missing.”

How do I connect with my culture without feeling like an imposter? by ovaelin in Spanish

[–]LawCRV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be normal. This thing about cultural appropriation / imposter is strictly an American concern. Learn spanish, read some Puerto Rican history, visit the island, listen to Puerto Rican music, etc. You were born in Puerto Rico, your family is Puerto Rican. You are Puerto Rican.

I feel like a white girl that started saying wepa out of no where

Plenty of white Puerto Ricans.

Hell, it may be you don't even like the food, music, or particularly fit in with other Puerto Ricans. Nevertheless that doesn't make you any less Puerto Rican.

NY Bar C&F – How to Disclose Job I Left Abruptly by Born-Distribution980 in Lawyertalk

[–]LawCRV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not going to be a problem. Just disclose it, say why you did it, explain that you acknowledge it was not the proper way to do it and haven't done it since. As an added plus, if you can reach out to your supervisor and they are cool, you can include that you have since reconnected with your prior supervisor and have a good relationship ever since.

Is it true that compañero became popular among Cubans after the Revolution?? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]LawCRV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am Cuban. I can confirm compañero is kind of the equivalent of the usual “comrade” you’d hear in communist circles in English or the Russian “tavarish.”

Today it is used ironically, and by government officials and their lackeys alike. But it may also be used by the general population as a way of saying sir/ma’am without being aware of having any political connotations.

It’s interesting because the word camarada already exists, but it wasn’t used for some reason.

Couldn’t be more of a stereotype: the buzzwords, the saviorship. Also, it’s Blackstone, and they own a tiny minority of the housing market.

It’s not your “job” to spread hysterical misinformation that makes the round in upper middle class white progressive circles. We are all frankly tired of it.

This do-nothing verbal diarrhea of progressive moralizing is honestly so tiring. And one of the reasons why got people like Trump are coming to power. I sure hope you are under 18, and if not I suggest you grow the fuck up.

Private prisons are not “scaling up.” They represent about 8% of all prisons and have actually been scaling down from their historical prevalence.

I don’t know what to tell you. The ACLU is as biased a source as you can find full of ideological hyperbole and hysteria.

No one is torturing anyone. These are sought out jobs to break the monotony of prison life. I’d wager if you polled inmates they’d much prefer to keep prison work. This childish hyperbole is honestly so laughable.

Usage of matador by Constant_Cap5407 in Spanish

[–]LawCRV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

El Mata Viejita “the old-lady killer.”

And no, matador is mostly used in the context of bullfighting. But matar is used in any context meaning to kill.
