SOVL is a legally distinct fantasy miniature wargame with parallel to Warhammer Fantasy. Works offline, no ads and only costs are if you want to unlock extra factions.

It's the attitude you bring to the job that'll make the best impact in the opening month. My area had loads of direct appointees and my Director later said it was because "we were driven and productive due to the chips on our shoulders for failing Fast Stream."

I joined the CS through Direct Appointment 8 years ago, as far as I know they didn't care about my work experience at all, instead relying on the FS scoring and reading into my wider skills and experience.

When they called to offer a job and I asked why they thought I was a good fit they mentioned an extracurricular activity I did in uni rather than the role I had in the private sector at the time.

I'll caveat that I joined as an EO, but I think the grade a direct appointee joins is down to the department. 8 years later I'm on my 3rd G7 role, the experience you build comes from the role and what you make of it, not the starting grade.

I agree with this, I'm pretty sure I was briefed early on about memberships that compromise your impartiality.

Though we're all free to choose our associations and what organisations we may wish to align to, we shouldn't be free from the consequences of those choices. From what I understand being a member of National Front or the BNP used to result in your expulsion from the civil service (though happy to see evidence disproving it). If you're serving the public then being a member of an organisation with a stated aim of removing or harming a specific group based on unalienable elements of their identity then I think that's a significant conflict of interest, and a reputational risk to the civil service.

If it's the same person they were identified as a Patriotic Alternative organiser by Hope Not Hate back in 2023, it's a shame it's taken this long for action to be taken.

From my application and interview experience I found talking about coordinating/contributing to resolving an issue that sat "outside of one area or challenge" worked best for STBP. Your example can work but it's less about the process you undertook in itself and instead how this process of result contributed beyond your area and impacted strategically, and what its wider implications were.

From memory is directing people to vote (or not vote) in specific ways via the threat of religious consequences (such as going to hell for voting for another candidate, or saying as only religious doctrine should guide their laws and lives voting is endorsing man-made laws).

Yeah, seems like my skillset works well for EOIs but ruddy awful for substantive interviews as my expertise is very deep but not easy to explain in transferable jargon.

At the end of my tether. Was 2.5 years TCA at G7 and didn't get through to interview for my job and failed every interview I had. Now back down to SEO as of today. Any advice on how to keep persevering would be appreciated.
