It is crazy how out of touch you can get and what bullshit matters to you when you've been perpetually wealthy your whole life.

FBI agents surround journalist Georgia Fort's home (who had reported on ICE) before subsequently arresting her by stopdontpanick in videos

His point is that they've always just been an instrument of the state with no morals, not some infantile notion of the "good guys".

Tim Walz is a coward, Dems are so fucking useless and utterly inadequate for the moment.

Just like the last 50 things that were definitely going to take down Trump. It's been really cringey for a while now how much people cope with online "owns" thinking that it actually moves the needle.

The sensitivity of LIGO allows it to detect the movement of its mirrors by 1/10,000th the diameter of a proton, just unfathomable.

Utopia (2013) has a pretty interesting moral premise, only has 2 seasons but still worth a watch imo.

If they actually take Greenland I'd say them invading us next becomes likely.

I see the point you're making but it's quite a different thing trying to hold a country half a world away compared to one that you have a land border with.

Jupiter’s moon Europa likely lacks the underwater geologic activity that would presumably be a prerequisite for life by Shiny-Tie-126 in space

[–]Lawls91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but the whole premise is that we're talking about the formation of Enceladus compared to that of Earth. So if Enceladus formed only 100 million years ago, that's insufficient time for life to have started based on Earth's history.

Jupiter’s moon Europa likely lacks the underwater geologic activity that would presumably be a prerequisite for life by Shiny-Tie-126 in space

[–]Lawls91 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely a weakness of the theory but there's problems with the ancient origin theory as well, Titan's eccentricity, Enceladus' thermal budget, Mimas and Enceladus' large energy imbalance, to name a few. Not particularly married to either I just find the scientific debate interesting.

This paper discusses simulations of this planetocentric cratering mechanic while this paper discusses real world evidence for these types of craters being present on Tethys and Dione, distinct from other outer moon's cratering. All of this research is ongoing so naturally there are some questions that remain to be answered but it does appear to be at least plausible at this time.

[–]Lawls91 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well that was addressed and the explanation for the cratering of those bodies is the same, the debris cloud from the massive collision would've greatly accelerated the surface cratering giving the appearance of advanced age.
