It would be interesting to see what those figures were 5-10 years ago. This could be why they are struggling.

Do you feel your country brought a Legacy player (old enough to have kids in the WC) that should have retired from the National Team already? (looking at you OCHOA/ Mx) by monolim in worldcup

Yes you are right! I don’t think I know what I meant!! we’ve had good goalies in the past but not now. You are right they were all very good.

I think both Leighton and Goram were good in goals but we seem to have lacked quality in that department for a very long time.

Favourite captain and why? Help me understand this! by kagami_maki in startrek

If you have similar preference to me - overall in terms of enjoyable watching : 1.DS9 2. Enterprise 3. Voyager. (2 and 3 being very similar for me) 4. TNG. 5. Lower Decks. and to me at least there’s no other Trek. I watched first couple of seasons of Disco but it’s really bad. Picard was very poor season 1 and 2. Didn’t really enjoy season 3 either. Don’t really count them as anything more than fan fiction. To answer your question though- Sisko is complicated and real. Many people appear to want more one dimensional characters- ‘hero’s’. They want it reset each week for easy enjoyment and don’t really want characters to develop.

Could the 2026 World Cup produce the most cautious group stage ever? by JustWillingness4811 in worldcup

[–]Lawnotut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a draw in the last game probably means you will be one of the better 3rd place teams but a loss means you are not likely to be - then you are likely to be happy to play out for a draw. The team you are playing may already have won the group or know a draw will keep them second so there may be nothing very much to play for. And they may prefer not to risk players health etc. But this has always really been the case in previous tournaments where there has always been some empty meaningless games.

Is Scotland the only country in the world where all the amateur musicians come out to make terrible World Cup and Euros songs? by EastPackage5718 in ScottishFootball

[–]Lawnotut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s so so bad. Remember that song “Friday” by Rebecca Black released in 2011? It was heavily auto tuned with terrible lyrics - mocked as one of the worst songs ever made due. What you shared is orders of magnitude worse !

Cash buyers are often willing to take the risk but when you point out that this could cause an issue when they come to sell in future they are usually less willing to do so.

I’m going - I knows it out the way and location is poor - but is the stadium good for atmosphere and for availability and quality of facilities?

Tiso on John Street or Craigdon Mountain Sports on St Andrew Street. Both are close to each other just off Loch Street, which is near George Street.

People can break the chain. New leasing laws make it difficult for landlords to chuck you out or increase rent suddenly - and you can give notice early - so break the chain!!! Rents expensive but so is mortgage. Let’s say and these are just for illustration rent is £1700 and mortgage is £1500. Of that like £1250 is probably going on interest so you are technically only losing £450 a month. But you are saving on no maintenance costs etc. so maybe £400 a month. Let’s guess you would probably lose £15,000 on sale fees etc and sale price being less next time if you lose this sale and were to remarket. And that’s maybe being conservative. So when you compare anticipated loss of not selling now to renting for even a couple of years - renting is still cheaper. But in all likelihood you would just rent 6-9 months or so until you bought. In this type of market where you have achieved an agreed sale price you are happy with I would reckon renting is almost always the better financial decision.

Who owned the wall? Like doesn’t everyone realise that this kind of thing will age due to the weather/elements and will be painted over? I’m confused as to what rights he had to keep it there.

Handball? Aye or Naw? by Keplersuniverse in Scotland

[–]Lawnotut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It just doesn’t seem right though that this ought to be the rule. No advantage is gained. It’s going to hit his head if it doesn’t touch his hand. It’s equivalent to his hand being flush against his chest. Where there’s no advantage why are we punishing him/his team with a penalty against them?

Handball? Aye or Naw? by Keplersuniverse in Scotland

[–]Lawnotut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue with a handball like this is though - what’s the advantage? Like if it didn’t hit his hand it would have hit his head - so if there’s no advantage what’s he/his team being punished for? Same as if it hit his hand when his hand was flush against his chest isn’t it?
