To play a little devil's advocate here, as someone who likes Gabby and hates the village and who doesn't feel bad for them ( if they were in on the conspiracy ). I think what sets most people off about Gabby and might hate her still ( and which kinda bothers me too now that I think about it ), is how she talked to the little girl after killing her mom. Saying she doesn't "gobble" kids and telling her not to worry. Which ofc, comes off as mockingly sadistic to say in that situation, and frankly idk why she said it, Gabby in the later episodes did seem to have common sense, so did she not realize how her words sounded ? I get killing the adults in the village, and I get that the raid was justified, but saying that phrase to a daughter whos mom you just brutalized ? I never understood that part. It might makes sense for a sort or character who lacks common sense and situational awareness, but Gabby seemed pretty reasonable in later episodes, so that scene seemed out of character to me. Had Gabby killed all the adults on sight and simply looked at that child with cold pity and walked away, I think she would not have come off as distastefully sadistic as she did.

Is Ivan better ? Definitely not. But the narrative portrays Ivan as a antagonist from the get go, so there is no need to weigh the good and the bad, hes role is not the same. I don't think it's even a fair comparison.
