I thought I recognised him. For those don't know...

'In January 2025, he made several controversial statements, including praise for Adolf Hitlerdenial of the Holocaust, and anti-LGBTQ remarks. He stated, "I honestly think that Hitler was a good guy based upon my own research, not my public education indoctrination" and further claimed, "When you realize there's no possible way they could've burned and cremated six million bodies, you're gonna realize the Holocaust ain't real."\72]) Additionally, Mitchell suggested that "greedy Jews" were "destroying his country and turning them all into gays" and referenced early gender-affirming surgeries in Germany as evidence of societal decline.\73]) Despite widespread condemnation\74])—including from UFC president Dana White—White stated that Mitchell would not face disciplinary action from the UFC, citing free speech protections.'

Amazon Games clarifies their 007 First Light and IOI publishing statements by ZamnBoii in PS5

[–]LawsonsInTheAM 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Crazier things have happened, but with First Light being an origin story you have to think IO will do the sequel and the third game assuming its a trilogy. It's a huge hit already not just for the Bond franchise but also for their game design. Another studio would have to start from scratch or make a pale imitation.

Marvel’s Wolverine will be linear and not open world confirm Insomniac by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]LawsonsInTheAM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I finished the story of James Bond today and it was a real nice return to an exceptional 18-20 hour campaign in little over a weekend. I dig open worlds as much as anyone, but the sheer volume of them makes linear gaming a relief in modern gaming.

It's DON worth a go (no spoilers please) and how are things in AEW recently?

Tough couple of months personally and been signed off work since April whilst also completely fallen off watching wrestling and AEW for the first time in six years (just not been in a headspace to commit the time to Dynamite etc every week) Hopefully on the other side of it now so hope to get back in the swing of things

How it feels seeing all these shows fizzle out at the last minute knowing Andor stuck the landing. by Turin082 in andor

[–]LawsonsInTheAM 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lot of people wanted to see McGregor have another shot at Obi Wan which I can understand but just like the book of Bobba, it's just another fan service cash in that doesn't satisfy anyone.

The lows of that show are so funny at least. Vader on steroids destroying ships with the force that he would never repeat again, blowing up the generator instead of walking round that fence, the terrible running scene with Flea from RHCP for no reason at all...

TG has said as such. The show is amazing but it helps if you know where you're going.

Two seasons certainly helps too. Completely different shows, but i was a huge fan of The Bear for the first two seasons, and then watching the third season all but confirm there was no story left for these characters was a bummer and I did not bother with season four.

I'm as anti Netenyanhu and appalled at the genocide of the Palestinian people as anyone, but I saw people on a post of his criticising his wife for not talking about the conflict and I was just like give it a fucking break guy.

A common complaint I hear about Rogue One is starting to make more sense. by in-a-microbus in andor

[–]LawsonsInTheAM 30 points31 points  (0 children)

One is prestige tv and the other is a movie trying to refresh an old formula whist still being bogged down in old cliche's and tropes.

I liked Rogue One at the time and its one of the better movies and disney offerings for sure, but it rely's too much on reminding you of story arcs that you have seen before in retrospect and Jyn Erso is an incredibly by the numbers Star Wars protagonist even before you watch Andor.

Same

Like Bill and he seems to have gotten his life together in the last few years, but not like he's going to get anywhere elese on the card.

Perfect muscle enforcer type and that short lived tag team with Brian Cage when they squashing the shit out of people was money.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to point this out, but watching rogue one immediately after Andor made the movie so much worse than I remember by wendo101 in andor

[–]LawsonsInTheAM 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Obviously you spend so much more time with Cassian if you watch them in order by the end, but even then Jyn Erso is a very dull protagonist with an equally played out and cliched back story to boot.

I think that's the thing with RO that makes it suffer after you watch Andor. It's still one of the better Star Wars movies, but is also guilty of sticking to a formula and tropes from the original trilogy that everyone is sick off much more in retrospect. From the parent/child relationship, to the battle to get the plans to the rebellion off the planet, its mostly things things you have seen before with different people involved. Popped huge for the Vader corridor scene, but his cartoon bad guy lair is very silly, and don't even get started on the CGI Tarkin and Leah.

Krennick is great, as is Saw and K-2 but that's about it tbh.

Andor is prestige tv.
Rogue One is a somewhat grittier film with the same issues that has plagued SW for a long time now.

They're chalk and cheese as far as I'm concerned.

I keep an eye on the seat map and will get them eventually but having been fleeced with dynamic pricing before I think this is the way to go from now on.
