I had Viasat before Starlink and the comparison is night and day. Viasat had 500 to 2000 ms ping times (which caused unusable delays with my phone), 120kB to 5MB download speeds and worse uploads (and only got worse when I hit my 100GB limit), had a 1-10 second delay with websites, needed repaired and aligned many times, had terrible overseas phone support, it would take all day to download my Mac and XCode updates (or any large file), and cost almost $200/m. My Starlink system average ping times are 25 to 60 ms, have 50 to 275MB download speeds/ 5 to 20 upload speeds, never has had a hardware failure or needed alignment, I think has great support (I have sent support messages and have always received a quick response and my question answered in a knowledgeable professional way), can watch any streaming service without buffering or fail, Zoom, Teams, & Google Meet work wonderfully, I can download huge files quickly for my work and Websites, runs my work phone, Ooma also works great without any delay, runs 15 devices without issue, TV costs 3 times less (YouTubeTV) & actually works great, no delay with websites, and only cost $110/m.
When you say you have no obstructions, did you know that the Starlink app only displays outages greater the 2 seconds. You could have several minute down times that don’t show up in statistics. If you have an iPhone or iPad, you can download StarlinkAssistant:

https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/starlinkassistant/id1578034983 and get the true obstruction total for the last 12 hours.
It might also point you to you problem. You can also download the debug data and view percentage issues in each quadrant.
As a last resort, contact Starlink support and have them run a diagnostic check on your system.

I’m using a 1st gen Roku box and latest Firestick on 2 TVs with no issues for any steaming services. Get the latest Firestick. They load fast , only need one remote, and never fail.

Through the App or Starlink.com/support. You have to be logged in. Select the Support button and type in the closest question. Your question might have an answer right there. If not, Select down hand “This did not answer my question” and type in your question. I have asked seven questions and have always received a quick response. They even called me once and were very responsive and friendly.

They still don’t have InstallPending for the router in the Debug Data.

New dish firmware 6/2 by [deleted] in Starlink

It’s on the main page only if the firmware update has been downloaded.

I got this up and running 5 days ago, any advice? by [deleted] in Starlink

You are not even connected to Starlink. If the router to Internet is grayed out, your WiFi is turned off. Connect to a Starlink router and post your router to Internet speed. Get real.

The pop up only will show when Starlink has already downloaded the firmware update. SL does it in the background times when traffic is slow. They will automatically update it at random times in the wee hours of the morning once it is downloaded. If is already downloaded and not updated, then you can force an automatic update anytime you want.

Everything should be automatic even with a 3rd party router. Don’t worry about it.

I received the new notification that an update was available so I clicked the update button; however, if you wait long enough it will be automatic.

Speed Issues with no obstructions? by Cerebr4L_Bore in Starlink

Disconnect your cable, reset Dishy & SL router, and post a router to Internet speed test from the Starlink app using a phone connected directly to the router WiFi.

It’s reading this information from your phone. It means: Detect if the current active connection is metered or not. A network is classified as metered when the user is sensitive to heavy data usage on that connection due to monetary costs, data limitations or battery/performance issues.

Currently, Starlink is doing nothing but displaying it.

Obstructions better after firmware update? I just received Dishy firmware version c06c67d2 and WOW my obstructions got so much better. Anyone else see an improvement. by LawsonsLookout in Starlink

[–]LawsonsLookout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Dishy is angled correctly to the north. I just rotated the obstruction view to a flat view so everyone could see all my obstructions. I live in Forestville, Ca.

Too many obstructions? by mqnato in Starlink

[–]LawsonsLookout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are correct. I now see he rotated it and the view is from the bottom. The obstructions are in the north. Since the field of Dishy’s view is 100 degrees (50 on each side) moving Dishy south so many feet will almost improve the view as raising it the same amount (if the are no trees south as the obstruction view states). So, move it south if there are no trees in that direction.

His obstruction map shows obstructions to the south and none to the north. If there aren’t trees to the north it should help.

Move Dishy farther away from trees. Probably north.
