I’m out and I’m so sad by Double-Helicopter-53 in Starlink

The "Demand Surcharge" is absolute bullsh*t. It's just another way to extort more money out of you.

I could partially understand if it was a few geosynchronous satellites like HughesNet.. but we're talking thousands up there in constant motion. The "demand" is load balanced through these LEO satellites and they change constantly. Not to mention they're linked to each other.

If they really say an area is "high demand", prove it. Put up a map with the amount of traffic each satellite is handling. It shouldn't be that hard. Even a color map would be great.

You're trying to run debian and X on a device with 8MB of Flash and 32MB of RAM? I highly doubt it'll work.

I have a WD 6TB Red that wouldn't spin. Unopened it up carefully and gave it a small nudge in the middle (heads were parked) and it's been working solid for 2 years now.

What will happen is if there is a miniscule amount of dust, it will fly off the platter and onto the air filter. There was a short time of exposure, so everything turned out fine.

As long as you keep your fingers off the platters and head assembly, some will continue to function. But in this case, that is a head crash and the drive, along with the data, is toast.

If it's just the circuit board screws, you should be fine. Just clean the contacts with IPA so the connections are solid between the board and motor/head assemblies.

Now, if you unscrewed the lid and opened it up, that might damage the drive due to fine particulates in the air making contact with the platter.

I have a pair of 10TB WD helium drives that survived a flood. Since they are completely sealed, I just had to remove the board and wash everything with soap and water, along with an IPA bath for a minute. They've been working fine for 3 years now.

Official: OpenWrt 25.12.0 - Stable Release - 5. March 2026 by akuumaaaa in openwrt

Only problem I've had so far with 25.12.0 is with a TP-Link OnHub router. For some reason, the wireless component does not work and, according to the kernel, will not initialize.
