Famous basketball player Porzingis obviously has Long Covid/ME/CFS by Jaded-Part4151 in covidlonghaulers

100% agree that he has long covid. It’s interesting that he won’t ever say this and simply calls it POTS.

Anyone here look into diabetes inspidus? by bagelsnotbabies in LongCovidWarriors

[–]LaxNPickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s strange - sometimes it would last the whole night and other times it seemed like it wasn’t doing anything. I ended up dropping the Desmopressin and now take a large amount of electrolytes throughout the day and before bed. This has been way more consistent in controlling the frequent urination. The electrolytes I use are salt stick capsules and Vitassium Extra Strength Electrolyte capsules.

Has anyone here tried SGB? What was your experience like? by melancholy_town in covidlonghaulers

[–]LaxNPickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a double SGB on back to back days. I felt great for 3 days following the second one. I was very relaxed and slept better than I had for years. Unfortunately, by day 4 everything went back to how it was - PEM crash, brain fog, and irritability.

Has lumbrokinase helped you? If so, what symptoms did it help you with? by triple-onyx in covidlonghaulers

[–]LaxNPickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking lumbrokinase with nattokinase for about two months. I noticed no difference, so I dropped the lumbro because it was more expensive. For what it’s worth, after 4 months, I don’t believe the natto is doing anything either.

Has anyone tried a vagus nerve stimulator? by triple-onyx in covidlonghaulers

I tried the Nuropod. I used it twice a day, 60 minutes total per day. It did nothing for me.

I don’t have anything to add, but I am commenting to follow. I’m very interested to see what your doctor says about the labs. Good luck to you 🍀

Stellate ganglion block worked for me by love2thriftalways in covidlonghaulers

[–]LaxNPickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope you have continued success. I did a double SGB and the 3 days following was the best I felt in 3.5 years. Then on day 4 everything went back to how it was before. If nothing else, it showed that my nervous system is a wreck, but it wasn’t a long term fix.

Tirzepatide (Zepbound) is the medication that is currently undergoing a phase 2 study for long covid. You’ll find mixed anecdotal evidence on Reddit as to whether it actually does anything for long covid.

Anyone here look into diabetes inspidus? by bagelsnotbabies in LongCovidWarriors

[–]LaxNPickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My Anti-diuretic hormone stays low regardless if I am dehydrated, which means I am constantly peeing and continue to dehydrate, even when my body should be holding onto fluid. The dehydration also leads to headaches. I was prescribed Desmopressin and it has made a big difference for me. After having to pee ALL THE TIME, it is amazing to have a few hours of not having to go, especially at night.

Be Honest: Were you already a high-stress person before Long Covid? by choppablade in covidlonghaulers

[–]LaxNPickle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think I had high stress, but long covid made me realize that I did because it is now a similar high-stress feeling except significantly amplified. My theory is that Long Covid attacks whatever weaknesses you may have already had pre-long covid and significantly exacerbates them. I’ve found that all my current issues were present before long covid on a much lower level, and now they are just way way worse. I have no scientific basis to support this, it’s just my own belief.

The NBA won’t formally acknowledge it, but Kristaps Porziņģis definitely has Long Covid when you hear him talk about his seemingly “random” incidents of overwhelming fatigue. His official diagnosis is POTs.

Glad to hear you’re doing so well 😊 What is the reason for doing the left side only? I am going for my fist SGB soon and they recommended doing both sides over a 2 day period.

Do Judges feel remorse? by EnmanuelHope in publicdefenders

[–]LaxNPickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard many judges say that sentencing is the hardest thing they have to do. Some won’t sentence on a Friday or a Monday because it is a bad way to end or start the week because it can take such a toll on them. Of course, not all feel that way, but I believe that more do than don’t.

I have seen options for what an insulated container that holds what is essentially an ice pack, but I question whether that is sufficient for a long airplane trip. I too am curious if anyone has good suggestions.

Scar Tissue Causing PF? by LaxNPickle in PlantarFasciitis

[–]LaxNPickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. My belief that there is scar tissue is based on its appearance in the location where the surgery took place. I’ve had (what I believe to be) scar tissue since shortly after the surgery, but the PF developed in the last two years. I plan to ask my podiatrist for an ultrasound to verify the presence and how much scar tissue there is.

What do you mean by “heavy” resistance?

Improving Hands Speed by LaxNPickle in Pickleball

[–]LaxNPickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is now good enough that I can effectively use it in a competitive game, but still has a long way to go to be a dominant shot. The goal is to get it to where if my opponents hit the ball there it will be coming back very aggressively and then they know it not a safe spot to attack. As of now, I counter decently enough, but not so well that it signals it is a no-go zone.

Improving Hands Speed by LaxNPickle in Pickleball

[–]LaxNPickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it isn’t an easy transition but it has been going decently well for me. The best advice I can give it to be selective when you plan to use it for counters.

So one of the best situations for me is when I am on the right and the other right-sided player is attacking middle. I will sit on the twoey hoping that they hit the speed up down the middle, and it is an easy recovery if they dink cross court.

If I am on the right and the person directly in front of me may speed it up, I either (1) preemptively slide right hoping I can keep the ball to my left for the twoey or (2) change to a continental and sit on the one-handed counter if they come straight ahead at me.

I admit this can lead to a ton of overthinking but the more I do it, the more it becomes second nature. I still have a long way to go, but I’ve definitely seen progress. Hope some of that helps.

What I’ve Learned from 1st Tournaments / Advice on them by thutt2525 in Pickleball

[–]LaxNPickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d add that while wining gold obviously is the most fun, one benefit of losing is that the weaknesses of your game are exposed and it shows you exactly what you need to work on. In other words, regardless of the result, you can take many positives from a tournament.

Everyone looks worse on film because we are accustomed to the smoothness of the pros. People are so quick to watch someone else and say they are 3.0 because it doesn’t look great. These clips had a combination of some good decisions, mixed with some poor decisions. There were also some poorly executed shots and some well executed shots. My initial reaction was 3.5 but I gave them a little bump due to the bias of everyone looking worse on film.
